1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL , Garage kept since new. Built in Los Angeles California. Z code 390 cubic inch engine with factory 3x2 Holley carbs and CAST IRON LONG TUBE HEADERS. Automatic transmission , 3.00 rear ratio. Factory A/C with factory tinted windows. THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL ROTTED OUT OLD HULK RESTORED TO LOOK LIKE A SILK PURSE FROM A SOWS EAR that are currently for sale!!!! All original body with one repaint approx. 25 years ago. NO rust or corrosion EVER!!! Beautiful black paint and interior. Chrome is absolutely stunning. Engine had a complete no expense spared rebuild in 2018. Best parts available were used. Transmission rebuilt at the same time. All three date code numbers correct carbs restored to new specs. New extra HD radiator. All brand new stainless 3 inch exhaust to the back bumper. Brand new Borgesen power steering system replaced factory linkage type power steering. As expected all new hoses, motor mounts, fuel lines, tans cooler lines, ps hoses all new and updated. while the engine and trans were out of the chassis brand new front coil springs and shocks installed. new rear leaf springs and shocks also replaced. Car shows very minimal wear on interior components. THIS IS TRULY A EXCEPTIONAL TIME CAPSULE and very hard to find in this condition.
Due to the car being in storage for the winter I have a limited amount of pictures. For anyone who is SERIOUS about the car I can take as many pictures as requested. Car is safety checked and ready to go. I DROVE the car to Cedar Rapids Iowa in 2018 just after putting the car back together for the Galaxie Nationals which it came in 3RD place. Never missed a beat all the way there and home to Canada. I would drive this car anywhere or any distance. The car is that dependable.
Let me start by saying when I rebuilt the engine and trans in this car I never intended on EVER selling the car. I am 64 years old and have been a licensed mechanic for 44 years ASE master Heavy truck Diesel . Racing has been a very big part of my hobby life. Our shop has been building high performance components for our customers for EVER. lol
So when I rebuilt the Galaxie engine which I have built many FE engines over the years I spared no expense on this engine and trans. The original engine, starting with the block was sonic tested, bored 40 over, align honed, square decked, all new cam bearings, all oiling passage modifications performed as per Barry Robotonick FE guru standards. Crank balanced to new hypereutectic pistons. Con rods all new small end bushings resized with ARP best rod bolts. Dura bond coated cam bearings, Cam is a hydraulic Lunati Vodoo cam 580 lift 427 specs, new Trend 3/8 pushrods, new roller rocker arms, premium cloyes double roller timing chain , melling premium high volume high pressure pump in a new 9 quart Milidon oil pan that does not hang down any lower than the factory pan, has side kick outs, ARP oil pump drive, heads ALL new valves , hard seats, valve springs, new period correct Edelbrock valve covers, 1964 ford numbers matching intake and carbs, carbs restored at Allstate carbs in Long Island New York. Brand new distributor from Pertonics, brand new water pump, new Holley high output fuel pump, best parts available were utilized. Exhaust are 1964 date coded factory cast iron long tube headers connecte to brand new stainless steel 3” exhaust custom made in our own shop. Going into Flow master mufflers tucked up where the factory mufflers reside. New high torque mini starter, new alternator.
Transmission professionally rebuilt in our shop all new internals , new torque convertor. New cooler lines.
There is approx. 8,000 miles on the trans and engine since being done. Brand new custom HD 4 row radiator in factory tanks.
Power brakes, new borgesen steering box, new front coil springs and shocks, new rear leafs and shocks.
THIS CAR IS AN EXCEPTIONAL EXAMPLE OF A CAR THAT HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED THAT IS ALL ORIGINAL STEEL AND INTERIOR. It is very hard to find a car this clean and with the amount of money spent just in parts alone because we cant include our labour it is very reasonably priced. There are no disappointments with this car. Who ever buys the car I can provide all receipts I just have to get them out of storage.
NEW PICTURES ADDED FEB14. The pictures of the truck show entire spare tire and jack assembly intact, truck floor pan is corrosion free with the factory cardboard side fillers to quarter panels still intact and not damaged. NEW trunk liner over top of black custom fit carpet. Tires are new in 2018 with 8k on them. 3 inch dual exhaust is stainless steel painted with VHT high temp header paint. Flowmaster mufflers with extra chamber to eliminate interior drone. Oily floor pans are from PRE engine and trans rebuild, left it there as an undercoating. LOL. RUST FREE FRAME AND UNDERCARRIAGE AND FLOOR PANS.
