MKII SPS0016 is an unforgettable example of classic British
motoring. The hand laminated fiberglass body was built with
reinforcing inserts and then covered in magnificent British Racing
Green with a two-stage show quality paint. Aesthetically and
dimensionally accurate, car features key touches including original
style turn indicator lenses, head lights, handcrafted windshield
frame in chrome over brass and authentic style windshield wipers.
The roadster even rides on original style 15'' wire wheel rims with
real spinners.
Original style Sun visors, polished stainless-steel bumpers front
and rear, side fitted wind wings, along with mirrors all around
complete the heritage styling. Options include an authentic rear
exit undercar exhaust with ceramic coated headers, Monza style
filler with locking gas cap and a 14-gallon pressure tested
stainless-steel tank.
The Ford 302 cid motor sends a tractable a 300-horsepower through a
TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission to the ZF limited-slip IRS
differential. The convertible was fitted with an aluminum single
core hi-performance radiator, shroud, dual fans, oil cooler and
braided lines. The aluminum finished firewall also helps dissipate
engine heat.
This Superformance MK II Street 289 has an original John Tojeiro
designed chassis based on a 3" heavy duty TIG welded ladder frame
and crossmembers with crumple zones. The rack & pinion steering
keeps the car pointed while the fully independent front and rear
transverse leaf spring style suspension. Stopping power is from
Wilwood disc brakes.
SPS0016 has a classic Moto-Lita hardwood-rimmed steering wheel,
along with period correct Smiths gauges. Leather was fitted to the
adjustable seats while carpet was installed in the interior and
trunk. The convertible has an original style grab handle,
heater/defroster controls, latch and lock seat belts, as well as
fresh air vents. A side-screen pocket is located behind the seats
and the Superformance car has both door and map pockets. Key
throwback features include original style pedals, catches,
fittings, shifter and hand brake lever.
The Superformance MK II Street 289 is a meticulously engineered and
crafted reproduction of the original, built under license from
Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. No expense was spared in recreating
the legendary cars, ensuring an authentic sports car
experience.
