Vehicle Description
Shelby CSX6045 427 S/C Cobra
The Shelby CSX6000-series Continuation Cobras seamlessly melded the
breathtaking performance of the 1960s-era originals with
contemporary improvements such as a stronger 4-inch diameter steel
frame and better alloys that get the most from the dual A-arm, four
wheel coil-over independent suspension.
CSX6045 incorporates all the best features from vintage and modern
Cobra generations, with absolutely spectacular results. The
hand-laid fiberglass body is covered in show-quality Blue Pearl PPG
paint, also known as 40th Anniversary Blue. The Cobra rolls on
original style 15-inch pin-drive aluminum wheels with Shelby
aluminum-winged true (wired) knockoffs and Cooper Cobra Radial GT
rubber.
CSX6045's 427 V8 was built for spirited driving, with Shelby
aluminum medium-riser heads, custom Mahle pistons, stainless steel
rocker arms with roller tips, a custom hydraulic roller cam,
high-volume oil pump, billet aluminum oil filter adapter, MSD
high-output breakerless distributor, a high-output coil, and Tilton
Superstarter. The powerful engine breathes through a Shelby
dual-plane intake manifold topped by 8-stack fuel-injection and fed
by a mechanical fuel pump (Holley 850 cfm 4-barrel carburetor
included with purchase).
The V8 looks as good as it runs, with billet aluminum pulley and
bracket systems, Shelby finned aluminum valve covers, black accent
paint, and an original style "puke tank." Completing the drivetrain
is a QuickTime bellhousing, Centerforce clutch ensemble, Tilton
hydraulic throw-out bearing, TREMEC TKO600 5-speed gearbox with
0.64-ratio overdrive, and an original-correct Salisbury-style IRS
with 3.54:1-ratio gearing.
Interior highlights include Shelby S/C correct black-faced gauges,
including correct reverse-winding speedometer, in-dash fuel level
gauge, hardwood-rimmed steering wheel with quick-release hub,
premium black leather surfaces with map pocket in each door,
key-lockable glovebox, heater/defroster, the correct Simpson
4-point harness for driver [Simpson lap belts for passenger],
correct Ford Galaxie reversed (forward-facing) sifter lever, and
carpeted interior and luggage compartment. A protective car cover
keeps it all looking fresh. A battery cutoff switch is mounted on
the rear bulkhead between the seats, with correct twin 6V batteries
mounted behind the passenger seat.
Drivetrain installation and final assembly were completed by Tom
Barnard of Tom's Motorsports in Las Vegas, and final assembly was
completed in February 2012. Since then, the car has had two owners,
and is titled and registered in Colorado as a 1965 Shelby Cobra 427
(replica). Included are three wheel tools (lead hammer, wire pliers
& lock-wire). CSX6045 has traveled 4,650 thoroughly-pampered miles
and is available for $194,950.
