• Completed February 1972
One of 1,750 911S Coupes produced in 1972, this exceptionally rare
911S is notable for its one-year-only external oil fill and it is
finished in its factory color combination of Aubergine over a Beige
upholstery. Throughout the long hood era, Aubergine was a
special-ordered color exclusively offered from 1972 to 1973.
Optional equipment from the factory includes (402) Koni shock
absorbers and (C07) Equipment for Italy.
The Aubergine paintwork is in pristine condition with perfect gaps
and panel fit. The upholstery is in remarkable condition, featuring
sport-style seats with black and beige houndstooth inserts.
Equipped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a deluxe
butterfly horn ring, VDO instrumentation, and a Becker Europa AM/FM
radio. The Fuchs alloy wheels have been restored and are fitted
with Michelin tires. The undercarriage is solid, rust-free, and is
in excellent condition.
According to the previous owner, a Porsche collector from Modena,
Italy, acquired this 911S in 2012. It had been well preserved and
repainted during the 1990s. A bare metal window out respray was
done by the Carrozzeria San Lazzaro in Modena, Italy. At the same
time, the interior was retrimmed by Ferraresi Enrico
AutoTappezzeria of Ferrara, Italy. Finally, the matching 2.4L
engine was overhauled by the Rennsport garage in Reggio Emilia,
Italy. Thanks to work carried out by these renowned Italian
specialists, this Porsche 2.4-litre '911S' is now in magnificent
overall condition finished in the original color combination.
In 2020, the 911S was imported to California. In September 2020, it
was sent to Porsche South Bay in Hawthorne, California, to get a
Porsche - Classic Technical Certificate done to verify the
authenticity. The CTC confirmed the color combination, and the
engine matched the factory records.
Excellent mechanical condition, powered by the matching 2.4-liter
engine (Type 911/53) with a Bosch - Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI)
system producing 190 horsepower @ 6500 RPM with 158 foot-pounds
torque @ 4000 RPM. The manual 5-speed transmission (Type 915)
shifts perfectly throughout all the gears with a four-wheel disc
braking system. Most recently, Vision Motorsports in Laguna Hills,
California did a leak down with excellent results of 4% to 6%
across all 6 cylinders. The fuel injection pump was rebuilt, the
MFI belt was replaced, the pump timing was set and adjusted, and
the engine was tuned. $5,870 was spent and this 911S runs
amazing!
Complete with photographs of the restoration, invoices, an Owner's
manual, and the Porsche - Classic Technical Certificate. Original
color combination with the matching 2.4-liter engine, and a rare
1972 only outside oil fill on the passenger's rear fender.
