Mustang GT Hatchback! This Mustang is an incredible time capsule
from the 80's with only 26,421 miles on the odometer and a clean
CarFax! It sits before us today with a driver-quality repaint in
Bright Canyon Red and a matte black hood accent (sticker). There's
a lot to love about the Foxbody styling, from the rectangular quad
headlights to the louvers on the C-pillar to the rear spoiler -
it's a look that has stood the test of time. You'll see right away
that this Mustang has a couple cool extras on the exterior, it's
equipped with fog lights as well as a tinted removable sunroof. A
duo of black molding strips with a pinstripe in between encircle
the car at bumper height and add to the sporty look. Other black
exterior features adding contrast to the red body include dual side
mirrors, door handles, window trim, rear louvers, and GT stickers.
This classic GT rolls down the road on factory aluminum wheels
wrapped in Michelin TRX tires.
Under the hood is a clean and stock-looking engine bay that's home
to a 5.0 liter 302ci V-8 that was rated at 175 hp when new. It's
mated up to a 5-speed manual Borg-Warner T5 transmission that
shifts like new and adds a little extra driving excitement. Other
items of note under the hood include a 4-barrel carburetor, power
steering, a dual-snorkel air cleaner, factory A/C, and power brakes
(disc/drum).
The interior of this Mustang is really like taking a step back in
time, it all looks new but it's 40 years old! It's hard to
overstate just how well-kept this charcoal grey interior is. The
driver's door panel offers power locks, crank windows, and a toggle
for the side mirror. The comfortable front bucket seats feature
grey cloth with vinyl bases and backs, and they're in fabulous
condition. The rear seat offers seating for 2 with fold-down seat
backs and looks just as nice as the front. Between the front seats
is a center console with an armrest/storage box, emergency brake
lever, shifter for the 5-speed with a black pattern knob, an
ashtray lighter, a digital clock, and a warning light display.
Under the crack-free grey vinyl dash pad are round, working gauges
for amps, temp, oil, and fuel, as well as a tachometer and
speedometer. The climate controls work just as they should with hot
heat, cold A/C, a strong fan, and rear defrost. The factory stereo
has been replaced by a Panasonic AM/FM/Cassette stereo that fits
neatly into the same slot. The glove box is home to the original
owner's manual and protect-o-plate as well as buttons to open the
hatchback and the fuel door. Ahead of the driver is a 2-spoke
factory steering wheel with cruise controls on a tilt column. Also
on the column is a stalk for the working 3-speed wipers. Overhead
are dual visors with vanity mirrors and a tight cloth headliner,
while underfoot is a nice stain-free grey carpet. Lift the
hatchback to find a retractable cargo screen, a set of black
carpeted floormats, a vinyl bag for the sunroof glass, and both 6X9
Panasonic speakers and 3" round speakers.
There were a lot of Foxbody Mustangs built in 1984 and quite a few
are still on the road, but this particular GT hatchback has been
put aside and pampered for the last 40 years with an average of
only 660 miles a year! It's like somebody saved it just for you! To
top it all off, it's incredibly well-optioned and the options still
