Vehicle Description
This custom 1966 Ford F-100 sweptside short-bed pickup was in
Canada in 2016 and was built with long-distance driving and economy
in mind. This is a complete frame-off restoration from top to
bottom. It is powered by a 302ci HO Ford engine paired with an
automatic overdrive transmission with a 3.73 open rear end. This
pickup is equipped with a custom 2.5-inch exhaust with shorty
headers and Flowmaster Series 40 mufflers. It rides on a custom
frame front to back with air-ride suspension at all four corners,
independent front suspension, modified truck-arm rear suspension
with airbags mounted in front of the rear axle, and a Panhard bar
and sway bar. Stopping power is provided by power disc brakes. Air
is supplied by a 12-volt air compressor connected to the existing
air tank, which is mounted between the frame rails behind the rear
axle. Pressure on the bags is controlled with mechanical valves and
gauges located just below the radio in the dash. The box floor and
wheel wells are custom-built and then raised 4 inches to
accommodate clearance when the suspension is dropped. The box
features a metal floor with stainless-steel bed strips. The truck
is finished in original Ford colors of turquoise and white using
PPG Omni single-stage products. All body and suspension parts were
sandblasted to bare metal and prepped with DP40. The interior
features power steering and a RetroSound Huntington Direct-Fit
radio that looks old-school but has all modern features and
connectivity. One front speaker is in the original dash location
and two Custom Autosound Undercover II aluminum subwoofers are
mounted under the front seat. The owner's manual for the system is
included. This pickup rides on American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels
wrapped in American Classic wide white radials by Coker. The
aluminum 1965 grille and all side trim have been de-anodized,
professionally packed and polished. They can now be polished just
like aluminum wheels. The build was completed in 2018 and won the
Goodguys Spokane Staff Pick in 2018, Goodguys Spokane So Low Pick
and Top 10 Builder's Choice Pick by J.F. Customs out of Canada in
2021. It has been driven approximately 500 miles since completion.
