1962 Galaxie 500 2 door post. This is a rare M code 390/401hp, 4 speed, tri-power. In 62 you could only get the M code with the 4speed and 3 deuce carbs. It was an early option to the 406. The car has front bench seat. There are only 16 of these 1962 401 optioned galaxies on the galaxie register. Mine would be 17. Of the 17 there are 4 sunliner convertibles, 7 club sedans, 2 hard tops and 3 sedans including mine. It's a rare car. This car was originally non pwr brakes and non pwr steering but has been updated with pwr front disc brakes and rack and pinion pwr steering. The motor is the 390 block but has been upgraded with 428 crank and rods for better reliability and a bigger cam to give it some lope. (sounds mean). The car sat in a barn in Montana from 1982 until I purchased it in 2009. The car was professionally painted in 2011. It was stripped down to the bare minimum, body work done, engine compartment was sand blasted and repainted. Paint is an upgraded chestnut metallic with metal flake in it to give it some pop! Looks fantastic. Engine rebuilt in 2012 and again in 2022 (had a valve problem). Original cast headers and new dual exhaust done in 2014. Tranny was rebuilt in 2017. The interior is all new dating back to 2010 through 2016. The interior was professionally redone and includes new seat coverings, carpet, door panels, headliner and dash pad. The steering column was upgraded to an IDIDIT tilt column and new steering wheel. Interior is 10 out of 10. Also has a CD / stereo built under the dash. Electrical system is 12 volt with alternator. The radiator is a Grifith aluminum radiator. I also installed an electric fan for when its idling or very hot out, switch activated. Electronic ignition. Front and rear bumpers were sent off and re chromed. New front windshield, door mirrors, emblems, etc. I handpicked (from parts sources) and polished all the trim myself. The car took me about 9 years of locating parts and pieces, picking the best out of the parts I could find. I spent a lot of time searching dearborn classics and Macs auto parts catalogs as well as others. I have a stack of receipts about 5 inches tall, lol. The car runs, drives and stops excellent. This beautiful rare Galaxie 500 is a real head turner. I get compliment after compliment, and lots of "I had one of those back in the day". I am asking $40,000 and will not take trades. I will look at serious offers and am willing to negotiate. I also have a truck and trailer and can deliver for the right price. Any questions please ask. Thank you for looking!
