Vehicle Description
This Grand Wagoneer was restored in 2021 right here at NFI Empire.
Our client wanted to give his father a gift, a token of
appreciation for a lifetime of family adventures. He wanted to
recreate the beloved family Jeep Grand Wagoneer that carried them
for all those miles over the many years. He enjoyed it for over a
year before the time came to downsize the collection of classics.
Now you have to opportunity to take this classic Grand Wagoneer for
a ride.
This Wagoneer is rust-free underneath which made it an excellent
candidate for the project. First the underside was decontaminated
before being sprayed with a protective undercoating to ensure the
longevity of this machine. A few of the lenses were cracked and
needed replaced. Two new bumpers were in order as well. The brakes
were long overdue and we replaced all of the brake components all
around. As the exterior began to take shape the plans came together
for the interior refresh as well.
The radio is modern with Bluetooth capability despite looking like
a vintage deck. Some new speakers went in as well, offering better
sound than those from the factory in the mid 80s. The window seals
were dry-rotted so we replaced them, and fixed the motors
controlling the power windows at the same time. There were a
handful of electrical issues that we straightened out, blown fuses
and a faulty switch. Now the power windows and seats move without
trouble.
Jeep set the standard for luxury SUVs with it's introduction of the
Grand Wagoneer in 1984. Before it was introduced there were no
luxury SUVs that blended the off-road capabilities with the
luxurious interior. The 5.9L V8 puts the power to all four wheels
full time through a 3-speed automatic transmission. With only
62,000 original miles, the engine and transmission remained in
excellent shape. We replaced the plugs and wires and tuned the
carburetor. It's running like a finely tuned machine; it fires
right up at the turn of the key.
The suspension is smooth, but not so much that you feel like you're
bouncing. The pedals are responsive and the seats are comfortable.
This is a fun vehicle to drive, come check it out at NFI
Empire.
