Vehicle Description
1976 Avanti II equipped with all the original drivetrain and
equipment as originally ordered, except the stereo head unit. This
is a 'PROJECT'. The running/driving aspect of the car does not mean
it's able to be driven down the road for miles but onto a trailer
and around the block or yard. The brakes barely function even with
very hard pedal pressure, likely due to collapsed rubber lines and
a questionable master cylinder. The original Chevy 400 starts and
runs well and keeps cool when idling for a long period. This car
has recently come from long-term at-home storage, but for years it
also was subject to the northern climates and roads. With that
said, this is a fiberglass car on a heavy steel frame with the
frame being in excellent condition. The common areas prone to rust
on the Avanti's from all years are the 'hog troughs' and torque
boxes which can be replaced without removing the body from the
frame. The only other rust area is the rear round tube cross member
at the back of the frame. For anyone new to the Avanti's, these are
the most common areas to need repair. In my opinion, such
replacement of the above parts can be done when ready while the
mechanicals are tended to and the vehicle can be driven after
necessary repairs and restored or kept as a 'survivor' as some
people may wish. The option list on this car when new was pretty
awesome, which included the driving lights and the Borrani spoke
wheels!!. There are receipts from the previous owner showing the
wheels to have been repaired in the early 90's by Dayton Wire Wheel
with new steel rims. The round tube from the front bumper is
present, but bent and is in the trunk as it was removed after
someone used it as a tow point and it would need to be replaced if
someone felt like reinstalling it. The fiberglass body is in good
shape, minus the obvious paint defects. Please Note The Following
