Vehicle Description
1978 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
It started with a simple idea: a few car chassis fitted with
hand-built beds to help carry materials around a booming car
factory. Before long, millions of Chevrolet pickups were woven into
the fabric of a fast-growing country. Chevy trucks tackled the
toughest jobs on farms and in the fields; hauled tools and lumber
to the burgeoning suburbs; and carried families and friends into
and out of the wilds for well-earned vacations.
For consignment a 1978 version of the Chevrolet C-10 pickup. This
creation has a mid cam in the correct 350ci V8 motor, a custom
front bumper and flames paint job on the 2 inch cowl steel hood.
Also new tires and wheels, you are getting warmer!
Exterior
Root Beer Brown with some yellow to light orange licking flames on
the hood front quarters and doors greet us upon arrival. A custom
bumper frames the bottom of the horizontal ribbed grille and
headlight bezels. On the hood section we can see rear facing 2 inch
cowl induction hood heading towards the windshield where it allows
plenty of air in under the hood. Some black pinstripe flourishes
and a winged and clawed eyeball is serving as the hood ornament.
Above the front glass is a metal visor and the cab is sporting
tinted rear glass. The doors have decently minded gaps, and on the
rockers there are some small holes due to invasive rust, and some
areas of bubbling near the wheel wells. The bed sides are straight
and have punched aluminum rails on the top for easy tie downs. The
steel bed is painted with black paint and wearing off. More custom
art on the tailgate with a cigar smoking and sparking sunglasses
Woody Woodpecker and crossed flags below. Yellow and green
pinstripe flourishes surround this art. A Chevrolet painted on
badge and the back bumper has been shaved. Dual chrome tipped
exhaust peek out from either side in the back. 15 inch American
Racing Torque Thrust wheels are wrapped in staggered rubber.
Interior
Root Beer colored steel and some molded bay plastic makes up the
door panels. Inside a long checked dark and light black tweed make
up the covering for the bench. This bench has smooth black vinyl
bolsters. The factory dash is in front and it has a new dash pad.
Round gauges show some clouding in their face coverings and the
vent louvers are damaged on all vents. Below on a scratched panel
surround is an aftermarket AM/FM/CD radio mounted in the dash. A
tachometer is mounted to the steering column topped with a custom
steering wheel. Black carpeting is covering the floors and these
have rubber protective mats over them. A tight headliner is
above.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a correct 350ci V8. It has a mild performance
camshaft installed within, and on top is a single Edelbrock
4-barrel carburetor. On the back is a TH350 3-speed automatic which
pushes power to a 12 bolt rear axle. A Flowmaster muffler system is
on which ends in a dual outlet tailpipe setup.
Undercarriage
Underneath is some light coated surface rusted suspension and cast
pieces but all remains very structurally sound. We see independent
coil spring front suspension, and leaf springs in back. Power disc
brakes in front and power drums on back.
Drive-Ability
This truck lit the fire immediately with a turn of the key, idled
very smoothly, and drove like a dream, with plenty of power, good
braking, and you could feel the solid undercarriage and new
suspension all working together to produce a great ride. A shout
out to the very comfortable overstuffed tweed covered bench, as I
felt like I was in a luxury vehicle. The high beam was stuck in the
on position.
For the 1970's C-10 fans this one is a restored beauty in retro
flame paint and some neat cartoons for accenting. A comfy interior
and the correct 350ci engine and it still has a long way to go for
you. C'mon baby light my fire!
