Reluctantly selling my numbers matching 1962 Chev Nova., build Date 3rd week of November 1961, Willow Run Michigan. I purchased the car from the 2nd owner March 17th, 2018, with 52,155 well documented original miles. I have receipts and service records to substantiate accuracy of miles on the odometer. The second owner purchased the car from the original owner's family after the original owner and wife passed. The 2nd owner owned the car 8 years, basically sitting in his garage until he decided to sell it to me. I've driven the car 3193 miles in the 6 years I've owned it., and after owning it for a few years, decided to restore / replace anything that I felt would assure this car could be driven anywhere without worrying about experiencing mechanical issues (No issues whatsoever during the first 2 years I owned it but the car is 60+ years old). The car is always garaged and covered, and though I live in California, has never seen rain or driven in foul weather. The exterior of the car is EXACTLY the way I bought it, minus new tires. This RARE convertible is documented as being the 460th assembled by GM in November 1961. The documents you will receive with the car are unprecedented and quite remarkable. You'll receive the ORIGINAL dealer plate from (HULAC) Chevrolet from Omaha Nebraska which I removed from the rear of car when purchased (see photo) didn't want it to fall off when driven.
Restoration includes;
Other items replaced / restored in the 2yr project; Original radiator inspected, and pressure tested. New electronic ignition, spark plugs, new 8MM spark plug wires. New radiator and heater hoses with new clamps and thermostat. Alternator bench tested, new fan belt, new rear brakes with new stainless steel brake lines. New tires (Purchased 2023), original spare tire and jack, new starter solenoid, torque converter, flywheel. New NOS GM muffler (have box), new heater core. Driver's side window track replaced (didn't roll up / down when purchased). T3 front headlights, new carpet, new floor mats (front and rear). You won't find a nicer 62 Nova convertible with the documentation that comes with the car including a copy of the ORIGINAL vehicle registration. Comes with a full set of original hub caps and 2 boots for the convertible top. The red boot is the ORIGINAL boot from 1961 that was on car when it rolled off the assembly line (see factory stamp "1961" on the underside of the boot). All glass is original and free of nicks. Weatherstripping on car is remarkable including trunk and doors. All instruments work including the ORIGINAL radio. The previous owner had the front seat reupholstered with ORIGINAL vinyl dated 1961, I have extra vinyl. I highly doubt the back seat has been sat in much, the vinyl is original.
The paint on the car appears mostly original. There is surface rust around the boot, gas cap, and wheel wells, all of which I have done my best to identify in the pictures. All areas appear to be on the surface, i.e.; the metal around the areas appear very solid and stable. The underside of the car has been wire brushed, inspected for rust, power washed, and coated. There are spots on top of front passenger fender, not sure what this is. The zipper on the passenger side rear convertible top needs to be fixed. There is a small slit on the passenger side rear plastic window. Other than what I have noted, this beautiful classic needs nothing!
I want this car to go to someone that appreciates classic cars, who can also see the value in owning a piece of Chevrolet history. I will accept any REASONABLE offer, no trades, scams, or ridiculously lowball offers please! Not desperate to sell the car but if you're serious, lets chat.
