For Sale: 1962 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova in Cameron Park, California

Vehicle Description

Reluctantly selling my survivor 62 Chev Nova., build Date 3rd week of November 1961, Willow Run Michigan. I purchased the car from the 2nd owner March 17th, 2018 with 52,155 well documented miles. The second owner purchased the car from the original owners family and owned it 8yrs prior to me taking ownership, most of those yrs sitting in his garage. Since purchasing the vehicle I've driven it 1812 miles, two of those years were spent rebuilding all mechanical parts of the car front to back. This is a RARE convertible documented as being the 460th built in 1961. The documents you will receive with the car are unprecedented and quite remarkable. You'll receive the ORIGINAL dealer plate (HULAC) that I removed from the rear of car when purchased. Work I performed on the car  includes;

  • Rebuilt original 194 6-cylinder engine
  • Rebuilt original 2-speed transmission
  • Driveshift balanced / with heavy duty u-joints
  • Rebuilt rearend

Other items included in the 2yr project include; Original radiator pressure tested, new ignition cap / rotor, points, plugs, spark plug wires. New lower radiator hose.  Alternator was bench tested, new fan belt, new rear brakes with new stainless steel brake lines. New tires (Purchased 2023), original spare tire and jack, new starter solenoid, torque converter, flywheel. New NOS GM muffler (have box). Driver's side window track replaced (didn't roll up / down when purchased). T3 front headlights, new Flamethrower coil, Pertronix unit installed then removed (didn't quite trust that it wouldn't quit working) put the breaker points back in. You won't find a nicer 62 Nova survivor with the documentation that comes with the car including a copy of the ORIGINAL registration. Comes with a full set of original hub caps and 2 boots for the convertible top.The red boot is the ORIGINAL boot that was on car when it rolled off the assembly line (see factory stamp "1961" on the underside of the boot).  The previous owner replaced the original floor rubber mats and carpet, noting that floor pans were found to be rust free.  All glass is original and free of nicks. Weatherstripping on car is remarkable including trunk and doors. All instruments work including the ORIGINAL radio. At some point the horn quit working and a "push-button" horn was mounted on the front of the dash, no extra holes drilled and can easily be removed if the desire is to have the horn rewired and put back into the steering wheel. The previous owner had the front seat reupholstered with ORIGINAL vinyl dated 1961, I have extra vinyl. I highly doubt the back seat has been sat in much, it is original.

The paint on the car appears mostly original. There is surface rust around the boot, gas cap, and wheel wells, all of which I have done my best to identify in the pictures.  All areas appear to be on the  surface although I cannot state otherwise, the metal around the areas appear very solid and stable. The underside of the car has been wire brushed, inspected for rust, power washed, and coated. There are spots on top of front passenger fender, not sure what this is. The zipper that unzips the passenger side rear window needs to be fixed. There is a small cut on the passenger side rear plastic window.  Other than what I have noted, this classic survivor needs nothing!

I am listing this hoping someone that appreciates classic history will see the value in this absolutely beautiful car and continue to enjoy a piece of Chevrolet history. I am not desperate to sell, I have no problem holding on to this if I have too. I will accept any REASONABLE offer and not interested in trades, also have a 62 Corvette that I intend to enjoy if / when the Nova finds a new home.
