Vehicle Description
Pontiac built just over 4,000 Formula 400 models in 1973 and
Pontiac would rein supreme in the end of the muscle car era, in
fact the GTO won car of the year in Hi-Po magazine. The second
generation of the would be built from 1970 through 1981 and
undoubtedly the hardest and most awkward time in automotive history
to either adapt or die to the ever changing safety laws, fuel
economy and the now ever so fast changing world of technology. The
73 front end on these is actually one of my favorites during this
time especially on the Formula 400. And say what you want but the
change ended up happening due to new safety regulations and
strengthening of the front end. This particular stunning example
appears to be a numbers matching example of a Formula 400 with most
of its original build sheet and other Pontiac paperwork. In
addition it has its original owners manual as well. The fuel
system, brakes, suspension, belts and hoses have all been done
recently and the car runs and drives very nicely with no known
issues whatsoever. Furthermore, the engine is very stout and I
assume some engine work has been done at some point. This thing
looks, starts, runs and drives extremely well and is very clean in
and out with a very tidy engine bay and trunk. There appears to be
only surface rust underneath with no signs of holes or rot. These
cars have been on a continuous upswing with collectability.
