The Mercedes W113 type, nick-named "Pagoda" due to a distinctive
and patented concave hardtop roofline. Many see as one of the most
beautiful cars ever built. All 280 SL models were equipped with an
inline 6-cylinder engine with mechanical fuel injection. The
comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent
suspension, powerful brakes and radial tires gave the 280 SL superb
handling for its time.
Absolutely exceptional throughout is the best way to describe this
280 SL. It enjoyed long term California ownership and was restored
in California several years ago.
Previously sold by Autosport Designs, it has remained in
enthusiast, collector ownership here in New York since. It has been
used for seasonally and has enjoyed service, when and where needed
by well-known marques specialists to ensure its condition remains
absolutely excellent at all times.
