This 1975 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 embodies the
best of GM's mid-seventies muscle car excitement.
A three-owner car from new (original owner had if for 35
years), this Formula 400 showcases its rare factory color,
Arctic Blue with dark blue interior, blue tinted glass and
correct factory striping. The car is highly optioned to
included power steering, power brakes, factory air-
conditioning, tilt wheel, AM/FM radio with windshield
antenna, rally gauges, Rally ll wheels, bucket seats,
console shift, etc. 1975 was the first year for the deeper
rear window which offered improved visibility, and it was
the last year for the fiberglass hood which featured the
signature Formula Dual Hood Scoops.
According to the owner, this 1975 Formula retains its
original numbers matching 400 CID engine with Turbo
Hydramatic 350 transmission. It has been recently
serviced with new battery, remanufactured original
Quadrajet 4-barrel carb, AC converted to cycling clutch
system with R134A, plugs, wires, cap and rotor,
thermostat, hoses and belts, and all fluids. The car also
features a Hotchkis TVS suspension consisting of larger
sway bars, tuned rear leaf suspension and tuned front
coil springs along with new bushings, hardware and Gas
KYB shocks at each corner. This suspension combination
lowers the car slightly giving it a perfect stance.
Completing the underside is a Pypes Performance
stainless steel true dual exhaust giving it the perfect V8
rumble.
The car remains highly original and under is current
ownership, it has been sympathetically upgraded to build
gently on its survivor status. The lower half of the car has
been professionally refinished with the paint perfectly
matched to the original Arctic Blue paint that is still
retained on the hood, roof and trunk. New fender well
trim, lower rocker trim, lower door witndow trim, drip
rails and correct OEM-striping bring this car to its former
glory.
Mechanically, this Formula 400 is spot on in all areas and
is a pure pleasure to drive. The car pulls strong in every
gear, the suspension and steering is tight and true and it
brakes strong and straight.
The Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 is revered by the
American muscle car community. Values continue to
climb and high quality, fully documented examples as the
car here is an excellent choice for automotive
investment. The car comes complete with the original
owners manual, two set of keys, PHS documentation,
eight years of service records/receipts, a small notebook
from the original owner logging fuel purchases and
maintenance.
