The Mercedes-Benz CLK550 convertible was the hardtop variant of the W209 CLK550 that was introduced for the 2007 model year. The CLK550 convertible was powered by Mercedes' M273 E55 engine, which was a 5.5L V8 engine that generated 382hp. This power was sent to the rear wheels via a 5 speed automatic transmission. Production of the Mercedes-Benz CLK550 ended in 2009, although a few examples are known to have been sold in 2010. It is common to find CLK550's mislabeled as CLK500's, although production of the CLK500 ended in 2006. The AMG version of the CLK offers some special undercarriage components including higher rated springs, tighter shock valving, larger diameter anti-roll bars, and stiffer suspension bushings. The resulting firmer, more controlled ride is made even tighter by its high performance ZR-rated low-profile tires. The brakes have been enhanced as well. The huge four-wheel discs are larger and thicker than the other CLK's, and the rear discs are specially vented to enhance cooling. It rides on AMG Monoblock alloy wheels, 7.5" front and 8.5" rear, shod with 225/45ZR17 and 245/40ZR17 tires. Also included with the AMG package is specially stamped exhaust tips.
