Vehicle Description
This custom 1948 Chevrolet Crew-Cab COE truck known as the
"Decoliner" is the result of over 10 years and 10,000 hours of
extensive build time invested into a multiple-award-winning
"rolling piece of art" show truck. The truck began as a humble
3-ton delivery box truck and pays homage to the golden age of
automobile styling, creating a striking silhouette that sets it
apart from everything else on the road. The one-off look was
created with aluminum and composite materials, with 1,000 hours
spent on the fenders alone. "Decoliner" seamlessly incorporates a
large hidden storage compartment for luggage or golf clubs with a
fifth-wheel hitch for towing. The frame is a highly engineered
custom show-condition aluminum tandem-axle chassis manufactured by
renowned builder Dale Gerry Street Rods. The factory steel GM cab
was stretched, and two additional original Chevrolet doors were
carefully installed by hand. Other exterior features include a 1955
Chevrolet front bumper and American Racing Torq Thrust wheels for
the classic look. It is powered by a GM crate 502ci Ram Jet V8
engine backed with a Gearstar Performance 4L80E overdrive automatic
transmission. A Duramax radiator with electric fans keeps the
engine cool. The massive engine is supported by a Dale Gerry front
cross member with independent suspension, a custom aluminum Ford
9-inch housing and Dutchman axles in the rear. The custom truck
rides on computer-controlled fully adjustable air-ride suspension
with Alden shocks. The cab features a custom Italian red leather
Lee Baxter interior and a custom Chrysler Windsor "Astro Dome" dash
with Dakota Digital gauges. It is equipped with Vintage Air climate
control and has a custom audio system by Andres Car Audio. With
extensive use of billet and one-off parts and amazing attention to
detail throughout, the truck not only stands out in a crowd but is
extremely reliable and has been driven from Canada to California.
