Vehicle Description
This 1958 Chevrolet Corvette custom convertible is powered by a new
GM LS7 engine with 427/570hp and 540 ft/lbs of torque connected to
a 4L75E 4-speed automatic transmission. The powder-coated Art
Morrison GT chassis includes compact independent rear suspension,
featuring coilovers with adjustable ride height, and stopping power
is provided by the Wilwood big-brake package, with power brakes.
Fuel is supplied by a GM ZL1 fuel pump in a custom stainless-steel
fuel tank built by Rick's Tanks in El Paso, TX. All fuel and
transmission lines are Kevlar braided lines. Cooling is provided by
a custom DeWitts radiator. Exhaust flows through the custom
Ultimate headers, finished in silver ceramic coating, and a
stainless-steel exhaust. This project started with the paint being
stripped off using the plastic media-blasting system, then the body
was finished off with Duratec Vinyl Ester primer and topped off
with BASF Pearl White basecoat/clearcoat paint. For safety, LED
headlights were installed. Custom wide quarters were added to
accommodate the large tires on the custom Schott wheels. The
leather interior features reclining custom seats for added head and
legroom. The steering column and the lower firewall were moved
forward, and there is a Vintage Air system, Dakota Digital HDX
analog instruments, an electric-actuated hood opener, a Bluetooth
flatscreen AM/FM custom stereo, power windows and an electric
parking brake. The car has been driven 200 test miles since the
build was completed in September 2023.
