As the Super Beetle neared the end of its production run for US consumption, VW introduced a number of commemorative Champagne Editions in ‘77 and ‘78. These included unique color and option combinations.
The 1978 Peach Red Metallic was one of the last produced at the Volkswagenwork AG plant in Wolfsburg, West Germany.
I am the second owner and purchased it in 2018 from the original owner who documented the refurbishment of the vehicle.
I added new interior kit with seat rail extenders (I am 6’2”) for improved leg room. I retained the original seats (for the purist). I also upgraded this fuelie with electronic ignition parts.
Of course it has been garaged and has been cared for by a 3rd generation local VW mechanic.
