For Sale: 1965 Pontiac GTO in Milford, Michigan

Vehicle Description

1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible / Tri-Power / Muncie 4-Speed / Complete Restoration / PHS Documentation / Lots of Upgrades.

LaFontaine Classic Cars is proud to present this beautiful 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible in excellent condition, featuring the desirable tri-power induction, manual 4-speed transmission, and bucket seat interior with center console. This is the pinnacle in classic muscle and ready for the top to go down, cruise to your local hang out, or take a trip with the sun shining down with fresh air blowing through your hair - it doesn't get much better!
This prime example of Pontiac's GTO is a real head turner thanks to the gorgeous and sophisticated Fontaine Blue exterior hue polished to a high-gloss finish. This isn't a color change; this is the factory color code ""D"" as found on the trim tag that was re-applied during a complete restoration done during prior ownership. The exterior chrome and stainless trim are in good shape, most appears to be original. The front grill is looking good along with the die cast rear tail panel and tail light housings - both are notorious for pitting and cracking. Complimenting the Fontaine Blue paint is a white convertible top in like-new condition (power of course!), installed during the restoration process.
Raising the hood reveals the refurbished Pontiac Blue 389 cubic inch power plant featuring the iconic ""Tri-Power"" induction system centered in the engine bay with each 2-barrel topped with the standard chrome, round air cleaners as they were in the 1960's. This GTO retains the original ""YS"" 389 engine block and #77-cylinder heads from 1965 along with a correct, '65 ""Tri-Power"" intake and carb set-up replacing the stock 4-barrel induction it was born with. Power output was rated at 335hp with the original 4-barrel, then toss the single carburetor to the side and add the triple 2-barrels for an increase of 25hp and 431-foot pounds of torque! That kind of power provides an incredible driving experience, especially with the top down.
Backing up the 389 is a strong, reliable, and smooth shifting, Muncie 4-speed transmission delivering power back to the original Pontiac 10-bolt rear axle (code WF) spinning factory installed 3.23 gears - perfect for both cruising, and the occasional trip to the drag strip.
Inside you will find a well-cared for, original interior treated to upgrades where necessary. The bucket seats are free of rips or tears with chrome trim looking great, the original wood-grain steering wheel is still intact without cracks or fading, and is mounted to a tilt column for easy entry and exit. The center console is in great shape and houses a factory correct Hurst shifter with white shifter ball for easy grip. The dash board is in great condition with all gauges functioning properly, an AM/FM radio sits in its proper location, and the painted metal surfaces look great. Looking up at the black convertible top frame work shows no signs of wear with seals in nice condition
Looking under this convertible you will find the fully boxed frame and sheet metal, both in excellent condition and showing no signs of rust proving it lived in a warm, dry climate most of its life. The steering system along with front and rear suspension components were all replaced during the restoration along with brake lines, fuel lines, and fuel tank.
Rolling stock consists of factory 14"" Pontiac rally wheels with correct center caps and trim rings, wrapped with P215/75/14 Coker Classic Red-Line radial tires, contributing to the excellent ride quality of this goat.
This ""Goat"" is sold with documentation including a complete PHS report.

Don't miss out on this powerful, smooth riding convertible that attracts a crowd at every show and stop light! For more information, please call the LaFontaine Classic Cars team at 248-714-2110 or send us an email to [email protected]
