Vehicle Description
With style approved by Mopar purists, performance upgrades designed
to handle today's streets, and a sinister look compliments of its
deep black finish, could this be the ultimate Road Runner!?
Starting with an original sheet metal Belvedere coupe, this killer
B-body Mopar has been transformed into a tire shredding, fear
inducing, street menace, reminiscent of A12 Road Runners that ruled
the strips back in the day. The body has been professionally,
rotisserie, restored to a degree Plymouth could have only dreamed
about. Body panels expertly massaged and aligned. All the trim
polished and rechromed. And sleek body lines devoid of excess
striping (just like the designers envisioned) will make any new
owner stand proud. A new, lightweight A12 style "lift-off" hood
rides up front using factory hood hinges while retaining the
requisite hood pins at each corner. Furthermore, correctly
reproduced H-code wheels, sans hubcaps, are wrapped in bias ply
redline tires, completing the A12 styling.
The beautifully restored bucket seat interior will require a second
look to notice the expertly subtle modern flare. The console-less
cockpit and factory radio block off plate suggests this car is all
business, however upon further investigation, the driver is
pleasantly greeted with a hidden bluetooth stereo, modernized gauge
internals, and ever so important cold air conditioning!
Under the hood, a 6.1L 3rd Gen Hemi V8 was wisely chosen for modern
performance and reliability. Stripped of unnecessary accessories
and proudly painted Hemi orange, it also takes a second look at the
engine bay to notice just how modernized it has become. And to pay
homage to the A12 theme, an electronically fuel injected Six Pack
throttle body setup rides under a factory Six Pack air cleaner.
Power is sent back to a 4-speed manual transmission custom built
with a 4th gear overdrive, allowing for comfortable highway
cruising. A heavy duty 8 3/4 Sure-Grip rear axle finishes things
off out back.
Underneath, an overhauled suspension, further improved by stiffer
control arms, Hotchkis tuned Fox Racing shocks, and set of new leaf
springs, is tight and predictable. Power steering updated with a
new quick ratio steering gear, and braking updated with power discs
up front round out a well-balanced and tough chassis.
Nostalgic style where expected, modern flare where desired, and the
bragging rights of a Hemi powered muscle car, we dare to ask again;
Is this the ultimate Road Runner!?
