We are offering this rare, very early Bobcat 4 Wheel Drive Tractor for restoration.
Bobcat made by Whitman & Robinson in Weedsport NY. I believe the following information is correct but am not an expert on these. It has a snowplow/Dozer blade, is four wheel drive and steers like a bull dozer. The engine is an opposed 2 Kohler with a bore of 3 5/8 and a stroke of 3 1/4 inches. It is a model W serial #285. The rear ends appear to be early Ford units placed back to back, with a sprocket in between. The sprocket is driven by a chain that is driven by the transmission which is bolted directly to the clutch and engine. Appears complete. I have not attempted to start engine or install a battery to check electrical system. Sitting on my flatbed trailer. For a small fee, I can deliver within Western WA and have a private, reliable transporter who can deliver anywhere on the West coast and maybe Midwest.
A worthy restoration project and guaranteed to get attention wherever displayed. Located in Carnation WA. Information about this model: Some people might notice the similarities between the old Detroit Tractor Co. Model 44-16 and the Whitman and Robinson tractor. Both are skid steer with differential braking and external drive chains. The main difference is the Detroit Tractor is front engine and the Whitman Robinson is rear. The clutch housing on my tractor has a name plate stating it was made by the " Western Mfg. Co., Detroit MI". When you search for Western Mfg. you find the old address of
3400 Scotten Ave. Detroit MI which happens to be the same as the Detroit Tractor Co. Address in the ad below.
