For Sale: 1952 Ford F1 in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1952 Ford F1 Pickup

In 1925 the Ford Motor Company introduced the first "pickup" based on the Model T Runabout. Ford offered the rear "pickup box" separately at their dealer parts department for $25.00. The box was then bolted onto the back of the vehicle as an accessory. Since the box was "picked up" at the parts department by the customer, the term "pickup" took hold for this style of vehicle. Later the box was installed at the factory and evolved into today's pickup trucks.

For consignment, a totally restored Ford F-1 pickup truck. Lots of attention to detail has been paid to this truck, and the final product shows it. If you are into the original factory design, unmolested just restored all buttoned up and looking showroom then this is the truck for you. Just like the old days, come on in or hop online and make the transaction and the "pickup"! These trucks seem to be very popular at Classic Auto Mall lately, particularly one that has not been rodded which is so often done with these trucks. So it is suggested you show up sooner rather than later for your chance to have it permanently in your collection.

Exterior
She's taking a medium blue metallic bath and it's a nice cooling one for this deep end of the "tub" paint job. With its "phat" white painted metal grille with a horizontal pointed central bar, and a trio of vertical "chicken legs" giving the central big bar support and 2 single wide gray bezel headlights, this is an iconic design for 50's Ford trucks. A bulbous hood, with shiny brite work on either side surrounding the nostrils, makes its way back to a single pane windshield and rounded cab area. Perfect running boards connect the front and rear rounded fenders, and create a "step side" for side bed access. Speaking of the bed, its box is straight as arrows with its curled over steel edging and lightly stained oak bed with chromed separators. The tail gate looks much like the original with the Ford script type badge in red in the center and a straight chromed bumper just below framing the bottom. Blue steel painted wheels serve as the background for the deep trim rings on their edges, and the chromed F O R D badged moon caps on the center covering the hub. Period correct thin black wall tires are on all 4 corners.

Interior
Swing open the blue painted metal door panels and we think it's going to be utilitarian, but alas! We see blue painted sills then a white and blue vinyl takes over for the panels and looks fab! Also the bench is quite a surprise as now a nice blue tweed covers the seats and backs and these have a smooth blue vinyl bolster surrounding the tweed. Just in perfect condition. Focusing our attention to the dash, we see all metal jacket in blue steel curing at the edges and in front of the original wheel, 2 round gauges. One is the speedometer and the other is a circular combination of water temp, gas, oil pressure and battery around the edge of this larger gauge. Bezels and faces are pristine. In the center a chrome trimming rises upward at angle and forms the delineation between the blue and cream panel that now takes over. With this space we see the factory radio, an ash receptacle and glovebox. Below is a thin horizontal panel of blue painted metal housing some pulls and knobs, also the key. Below is a lineup of more pulls and a black painted heater fan. The floors are clean rubber and the headliner is clean white vinyl. All very nicely done and in very good condition.

Drivetrain
A rise of the voluptuous hood and you are gazing into a wonderful restored engine bay, which now includes the original blue painted block 239ci flathead 8 cylinder engine. It's topped with a factory single 2-barrel carburetor underneath a big oil bath air cleaner. On the back is the factory 3-speed manual transmission. Stock exhaust is on an and in dual chromed tips out the back below the bumper. A few extras are new ignition, and a chromed alternator.

Undercarriage
Factory steel framing is seen and it sports no rust, just black paint. The new bed shows through and solid stamped floor pans and framing structure for the mill are in front. Leaf springs are on all 4 corners. These suspension parts work in conjunction with drum braking as it should be with a 1952 model.

Drive-Ability
I sat upon the tweed seat and peered into the beautiful vintage gauges and dash and turned the key to my test drive. Here on the track it performed beautifully without a snag on any level. The radio did not play and the horn did not blow. The heat got warm, steering was fairly easy, and braking was a panic stopping bias free experience. All good on the driver front. You can scrape your knuckles on the shifter when going from first to second with the dash.

For an individual who just enjoys a nostalgic truck cruise in a truly original looking and correct truck, this could be it. For the collector who wants to show a beautiful example of the F1 this could be it. For the business who may want to use it as a promotional piece, and attract a lot of eyeballs, this could be it. Make your way here for a test drive as this could be it! Oooooh My!
