Vehicle Description

For Sale 1969 Ford Mustang Mach-1 “R-Code” 428 Cobra Jet Auto

9T02R155891

Up for your consideration is a beautiful ’69 Mach-1.  This is a very special car.  Please be sure to check out the data tag break down and the provided Marti Report. Below I will go through the condition of the entire car, top to bottom, inside and out.

Overall Condition – Excellent is the best way to describe this vehicle.  The car is very show presentable and it is a car you can jump in and use trouble free.  Rust free, accident free, correct details and a stout drive train make this car a solid investment.  The engine block, heads, distributor and C6 are original to the car.  Below I will go through the condition of the car top to bottom.  This is an R code car, meaning 428 Cobra Jet Ram Air!  Original Miles = 60,321

Mechanical – The 428 stroker (462”) made 537 HP peak and 550 TQ peak.  This power was made using the original block, heads, distributor and carburetor.  While everything is matching, the internals were all upgraded and fresh.  The engine is .030 over with a 4.25” stroke making 462ci.  Compression is 10.5:1 so it can run on pump gas with no problems.  A Lunati custom roller cam/lifters were used.  Roller rockers and all the best of the best internals were used.  The engine is VERY streetable and makes very respectable power all while running efficiently and cool.   Everything is very well dialed in.  The ignition is electronic and has been professionally recurved.  Dyno tuning for power was done on an engine dyno, then it was tuned for street use.  The carburetor has been restored and then built and tuned exactly for this combo.   The machine work and engine build was done by Jim Evanuik; see info about Jim in the link below.

The original Cobra Jet C6 has been rebuilt with upgraded internals, shift kit and a custom stall converter to handle the FE power!  A quality torque converter has been matched to the engine build and pulls out very normal for the street, flashes at around 3,000 at wide open throttle launch.  Power is handled by the factory nodular iron 9” rear end with a 3.50:1 final drive.  Steering, braking and suspension components are all in great shape and function as they should.  Original cast iron exhaust manifold/headers breathe into a factory H pipe and then move onto factory exhaust system.  The built engine sounds AMAZING through factory style exhaust.  The sound is incredible…however, if it's not loud enough, hit a button and you have electric cutouts for an open pipe sound.  When you get in the car, it starts easy, comes to a nice idle, runs VERY STRONG, stays cool, shifts well, goes straight, stops and handles great.  There are no leaks or dips. Show, cruise or race this combo with no issues!  The mechanicals of this car need no attention.

Interior – Seats, door panels, dash, headliner, carpet, steering wheel and consol are in very good condition.  The upholstery was restored a few years ago and is still holding up great with no signs of excessive wear, tears, or issues.  The interior of the car was done to original spec.  All of the gauges, indicators, lights, windows, wipers, blower, etc. function as they should.  The interior of the car needs no attention.

Underside – Solid, clean and no issues.  There is no undercoating so everything is visible with no surprises.  The older restoration still has some nice detailing.

Exterior – This is where there is some opportunity.  While the red paint looks GREAT and is in very good condition, this car was born Aztec Aqua.  A VERY rare color on a 1969 Cobra Jet Mach-1.  Right now the car is in line to be painted its correct color.  With everything the car is, along with the correct Aztec Aqua & black out paint job, cars in this condition are bringing around the $120k mark based off of historical sold data.  If you chose to keep the car in its Red/black out finish, it still looks stunning.  The trim, lights and most of the glass are in good condition.  The front windshield and passenger side glass do have some blems.

This car is a great driver or show car.  I have driven this car around the city and on the highway – it's very user-friendly.  Don’t be afraid to use it and show it.  Overall, the condition is excellent.  I have done my best to describe the car in full detail.  It is up to you to come inspect or send a 3rd party inspection for your interpretation.  I am a car appraiser, builder and collector.  This is a special car.  If purchased, the new owner is responsible for transportation, insurance, title and any storage fees associated with the car.  The car is sold as is, it has no warranty.  There are companies that will offer warranties, funding, insurance and transportation for the car.  Payment can be cash, bank check, check.  The car cannot leave until all funds are clear (this could take a few days so please don’t show up with a check and expect to take the car).  If cash is in hand, it can leave anytime.  Once funds clear, the car can be taken.  The title must be transferred to your name.  We have a notary on site to notarize the seller signature.  Plate and transferring to your name is your responsibility at your local DMV.
