Vehicle Description
SOLD. Selling at the Mecum Car Auction in Kissimmee Florida on
Sunday January 7th, 2024. Lot number L152.1. Only 14,000 miles. A
rare Diamond Jubilee edition Mark V built to commemorate the 75th
anniversary of Ford Motor Company. At the time Ford called it the
most luxurious car they ever built. The original MSRP was around
$21,000 in 1978! By comparison the base price of a new Trans Am in
1978 was $5,799 and an Indy Pace Car edition Corvette was about
$13,000 plus or minus depending on options. This low mile example
is in exceptional condition and has all of its exclusive Diamond
Jubilee accessories such as the factory Knirps umbrella, tool kit
and leather bound owners manual. The D/J edition was available in
to two unique colors - Diamond Blue or Jubilee Gold. Just over
5,000 were produced with slightly more blue cars than gold. They
all featured custom cloth bucket seat interiors with leather
trimmed dash and center console along with many other unique
styling ques such as a beveled opera window with a simulated
diamond chip. Very few low mile examples exist today.
