Un Restored Survivor | #'s Matching Car | Rare Factory Roadster |
Original Documentation | 390c.i, PB, PS and more!
The pinnacle of the third generation Thunderbird was the Sports
Roadster package introduced in 1962 and only offered through the
1963 model year. With only 1,427 being built in 1962, the Sports
Roadster was accented by special badging, a color matched passenger
dash grab handle, and Kelsey-Hayes chrome wire wheels with ""knock
off"" style hubcaps. However the pinnacle difference was the
removable tonneau cover that sealed off the back seat and would not
limit the use of the power convertible top when in place. This
striking addition transformed the four seat arrangement into a
sporty two seater that called back to the first generation of
T-birds introduced in 1955!
The 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster featured here is a
completely unrestored example still wearing its original Rangoon
Red paint over a beautiful black interior. Yes it really looks that
good still! This Ford Thunderbird is an exceptional example of a
Sports Roadster with the 300hp 390ci V8 engine mated to a Cruise-O-
Matic transmission! It comes equipped with power steering, swing
away steering wheel, power brakes, power windows, power bucket
seats, and Kelsey Hayes wire wheels. An outstanding example of
third generation T-bird! This Thunderbird has its original
documentation including the original invoice, factory literature,
and the ""Arbiter Elegantiae"" signed by L.A. Iacocca! Call our
