This 1960 Willys Jeep pickup is powered by a 226ci Super Hurricane
inline-six linked to a three-speed manual transmission and a
dual-range transfer case. Service since 2019 is said to have
included an engine rebuild as well as replacement of the water
pump, oil pump, engine gaskets, ignition coil, spark plugs, wheel
bearings, suspension shackles, and battery. The truck was repainted
white in 2005, and equipment includes a front brush guard, a
side-mounted spare wheel and tire, a spring-loaded antenna, vent
windows, and black-painted bumpers as well as a black vinyl bench
seat, a driver-side sun visor, a centrally-mounted rearview mirror,
and a glovebox-mounted AM/FM/cassette stereo. This Willys pickup is
now offered in Massachusetts with an owner's manual and a clean
Massachusetts title in the seller's name that lists it as a 1962
model.
The body was repainted in 2005 in the current white, which was
mixed to match the truck's factory color according to the seller.
Equipment includes a front brush guard and black-painted bumpers as
well as vent windows, a side-mounted spare wheel and tire, a
spring-loaded radio antenna, and "4 Wheel Drive" hood badges.
Deterioration in the window seals, dents in the bed floor, and
other bodywork imperfections can be viewed up close in the gallery.
White 16? steel wheels wear mismatched tires and are fitted over
manually-locking front hubs, and a period-style spare is mounted on
the left bedside. Service in 2022 is said to have included
replacing the front shackle bushings as well as the wheel bearings,
brake drums, brake shoes and hardware, and wheel cylinders.
The bench seat is upholstered in black vinyl that is complemented
by gray door panels, black rubber flooring, and a body-color steel
dashboard. Additional equipment includes a driver-side sun visor, a
cabin fresh-air vent, a dome light, floor-mounted shifter and
transfer case selectors, and a glovebox-mounted Alpine
AM/FM/cassette stereo. The truck has been converted to a 12-volt
electrical system. The two-spoke steering wheel features a Willys
center emblem and sits ahead of centrally mounted instrumentation
including a 90-mph speedometer and aftermarket auxiliary gauges.
The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 70k miles, almost no miles
were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 226ci Super Hurricane L-head inline-six is equipped with a
single carburetor and was factory rated at 115 horsepower and 190
lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in 2019, at which time the
engine gaskets, water pump, oil pump, spark plugs, and ignition
coil were also replaced. A spin-on oil filter adapter has been
installed, and the 2022 service included lubricating the suspension
as well as replacing the battery and servicing the transmission,
transfer case, and brake fluids. Power is sent to the rear or all
four wheels through a three-speed T-90 manual transmission and a
dual-range transfer case. Rust is visible on underside components,
and additional underside photos are provided in the gallery. An
owner's manual is included in the sale along with a removed
steering wheel emblem.
