Gateway Classic Cars is proud to digitally present this 1972
Lincoln Continental Sedan. The term "Land Yacht" pertains to this
Lincoln Continental 4 door sedan. Coming in at 225 inches which is
18 feet and 9 inches, this car is the epidemy of 1970's over the
top luxury. The 5th generation of Lincoln was a return to the box
on frame format not seen since 1957. The chassis was now shared
with the Mercury Marquis. The 460 cubic inch engine was still a
Lincoln only engine till 1973 model year when it too was shared
with the Mercury Marquis and LTD Crown Victoria. This Lincoln has
been loved by the original owner since it was new and is a real
family treasure of a car. The owner bought the car in 1971 and has
lovingly maintained it ever since. The sleek over the top front
facia with large front chrome bumpers, grid chrome accent grill and
moving headlight covers with chrome accents are so 1970's cool. The
large 4 doors make for easy entry and exit, and the rear tire
covers are a nice luxurious touch. The huge trunk area seems to be
larger than today's pickup beds and gives plenty of storage space.
The chrome rear bumper with imbedded triple taillights rounds out
this chic car. The interior is just as cool with color matching
full dash with faux wood accents and retro gauges letting you know
that you are driving something special. The full bench gold color
embroidered cloth front and rear bench seats come with seat belts
and seating for 6. Providing power to the land yacht is the
original 460 cubic inch naturally aspirated engine mated to a 3
speed C6 transmission rolling on factory steel wheels and hub
caps. This is a beautiful example of 1970's chic don't miss out.
