Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Car of Tampa is proud tor present this rare,
Supercharged, 1963 Studebaker Avanti R II. Studebaker was onto
something special when they created the Avanti. Then they took it
to the next level with the supercharged R II. This was the car that
set land speed records and was driven by many an American celebrity
in the swinging 60s. Members of the Rat Pack owned Avantis! This 63
Avanti R II has been in the same family since new. Currently it's
in the hands of the son in law after passing from the original
owner - and father - of his wife. Overall this is a survivor
quality car. Claimed all original with no reason to doubt it is.
The paint is faded but the fiberglass body is free of cracks, and
there's no indication of accidents. The frame is rust free and
overall the car is mechanically sound. The car was finished in
white over a red bucket seated interior with visual enhancement
provided by factory hubcapped wheels wrapped in white walled tires.
Everything is reported to be in working order except for the
reverse lights. The car was optioned with power brakes, steering
and power windows, plus AM/FM radio. All in working condition.
Power is provided by the legendary 290hp, 289ci V8 with a
centrifugal blower. Shifting is done via a three speed automatic.
This car had a great power to weight ratio in it's day. It still
performs well now. This 1963 Studebaker Avanti R II is a real piece
of rare American motoring history. Don't miss the opportunity to
park this collector's item in your garage!
