Oldsmobile's legendary Cutlass is one of the best examples of GM's
muscle car glory days, with their characteristic low profile, wide
stance, and flowing bodylines. However, at the top of the lineup,
the legendary 4-4-2 reigned supreme. This 1970 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 is
about as good as an example as you can find, combining a
numbers-matching drivetrain, a highly original interior, and 80,140
believed-to-be original miles. Powered by a behemoth
numbers-matching 455 C.I. V8 breathing through a 4-barrel
carburetor, this '70 Olds makes enough power to pull a tree out of
the ground. Torque is stomped into the pavement through a 3-speed
TH400 automatic transmission, which shifts smoothly and seamlessly
as this 4-4-2 cruises down the freeway. Dressed formally as a 4-4-2
should, this example's laser-straight, curvy bodylines are covered
with correct 58-code "Burnished Gold" metallic paint, which shines
beautifully in the sun. It's only been repainted once, a quality
repaint with the original paint still present in the door jambs!
It's complimented by a pair of great-looking black rally stripes,
which run the length of this 4-4-2's functional ram-air hood and
match excellently to the car's black vinyl top. The 4-4-2 badging,
tout rear haunches, the dual-intake hood, the rally stripes, and
the rear spoiler all combine to create a truly muscular,
intimidating look! Additionally, the floors, frame, trunk, and
jambs are all original, rock-solid, and in great shape! Opening the
twin doors to this 4-4-2's insides reveals a stunning black vinyl
interior, complete with comfy patterned bucket seats and a full
center console. Added woodgrain trim brings a little bit of luxury
flair to the interior, and the original AM radio still sits in the
dashboard! Options on this fantastic 4-4-2 include power steering,
power brakes, front disc brakes, a functional ram-air hood, an
aftermarket tachometer, a full center console, "Dual-Sport"
mirrors, a remote driver's mirror, under-dash aux. gauges, a heater
+ defroster, LED headlights, factory hood pins, a rear spoiler, the
original AM radio, and a mean-sounding dual exhaust system. The car
rides on a sweet set of new Rally Chromed wheels over B.F. Goodrich
RWL tires, including a matching spare! Turn the key and that
massive 455 V8 starts right up, making sure that this 4-4-2 goes
like hell. There aren't too many cars on the market that have the
same presence that this one has, in highly-correct condition with
an original drivetrain. You're not going to see another quite like
it, so don't let it pass you by!
