1961 Plymouth Savoy, Under the hood, the ancient flathead six was
gone, replaced by an all-new and vastly superior "slant six" with
modern overhead valves. Cylinder Block: Aluminum. Displacement:
225.5 cu in. | 3.7 L. Power: 145 HP @ 4000 RPM. Torque: 215 Ft-Lbs
@ 2800 RPM Bore: 3.4-inch Stroke: 4.1 in | Compression: 8.4:1 Main
Bearings :4 Valve train: 12 OHV (2 valves per cylinder). Carter
BBS-3679S 1-barrel carburetor. Automatic TorqueFlite transmission.
Paint and Body: robins egg blue two stage paint job presents well.
The sheet metal on the car is ok, the body fit lines, gaps, chrome,
trim, emblems all in good condition. A feature of the car are the
medium sized, horizontal fins on the rear and smaller fins repeated
on the front of the car. Hooded headlights. Sporty, long, sloping
rear top of the roof, large back rear window. Chrome bumpers,
aluminum grill. Dual headlights. The front of the fenders are
reminiscent of an upset eyebrow scowl. Interior is a combination of
two-tone Blue and light blue bench seat in vinyl and cloth. Door
panels are three tones, once again, vinyl and cloth. Unique dash in
that the speedometer is in the middle of two round clusters each
topped by a half Circle of metal in dash top. Dash Mounted rearview
mirror. Push button heater controls, a.m. radio. The 1961 Plymouth
was "shorn" of its fins on the vertical plane, but they reappeared
on a horizontal plane as part of the body lines at the rear and
front side of fenders. The TorqueFlight automatics were vastly
improved with aluminum cases, reducing weight. 1961 was the last
year for a full-sized Plymouth carline until 1965. In 65 the Savoy
name was gone. Steel wheels painted to match the car. This vehicle
is either classic, antique, exotic, super rare, or all of the
above. This vehicle is being sold from one of the largest
