Vehicle Description
1980 Mercedes Benz 450SL Roadster. The car has now 81K miles, of
which I have only put on about 800 miles since owning it. (I bought
it in 2019 from the ORIGINAL OWNER). This is a 1 owner car. This
car was bought from an estate I was involved in, The Original
owner, my understanding was not well in health and had since
passed. The car is 100% complete! It runs and drives well. I wanted
to restore this car to its beautiful original condition but
unfortunately I simply don't have the man power and space at the
moment. I have replaced fluids, fuel pump, ignition system, plugs,
filters, and wires, among other things. As of late the ignition
switch has been replaced. The car has some rust spots on the lower
fender (one side, see pics) but otherwise is solid. the floor pans
are good, all sheet metal and even paint is original. When the car
was put in storage by the previous owner, one side was exposed to
direct sunlight in the garage it was in (was parked by a huge
window) and damaged one side of the cars' paint. The car will need
a tune up and maybe to be DRIVEN to come back to life. (it runs but
we all know letting cars sit in not the greatest) when I last drove
it in 2021 it ran and drove EXCELLENT. I start it from time to
time, it was last started in September 2023. To restore this car:
You will need some light body work (cut and weld parts where rust
is forming) sand down and re-paint. (one side of the car has
original paint and its in good condition!!), The car will need new
wheels and tires. (The original wheels I have in storage, these are
on there temporarily so the car can be restored and moved since the
OEM WHEELS NEEDED TIRES and wouldn't hold air) Engine and
transmission are good. Brakes are good. Suspension is good! Body is
in great shape for the age, but needs attention. Interior is
complete and in decent condition. I have extra parts included. NEW
soft top included. Hard top in great shape. Car comes with nice
clean OEM wheels and new tires.
