Vehicle Description
There is just, something about owning a first-generation Mustang
that stands out unlike anything else. It isn't a polarizing car,
and in its first few years before the Camaro came long to begin its
half-century battle, the Mustang was much more of a laid-back, fun
car. Later, when the Mustang became a boulevard bruiser to battle
in the muscle car wars of the late 1960s and early '70, it had a
tougher, meaner vibe about it, which Ford enthusiasts adored but
everyone else loathed. But before that transition, the 1964.5 to
1966 Mustangs were beloved, and this 1966 Mustang GT is a great
example of just why that was.
Repainted in a beautiful Vintage Burgandy sits in all its GT glory,
ready to ride. Though we can't say definitively this is a factory
GT since no window sticker is included in the sale, this car has
all of the requisite features to suggest it is the real deal. Dual
grill fog lights up front, correct GT wheels, and a dual exhaust
setup that exits through the rear valence of the car all make it
look right from the outside.
Inside, the red and white Pony interior is complemented by the GT
Rally Pac dash, which has been tweaked slightly to have
better-looking white-faced gauges. The three-spoke wooden GT
steering wheel is also a hallmark of the upgraded trim, while the
air conditioning and added door panel speakers chip in to make any
drive a better one.
Under the hood, a well-kept, clean 289 cubic-inch V-8 sits with its
Cobra valve covers sporting a single four-barrel carb and stock
exhaust leading to a set of sweet-sounding MagnaFlow mufflers.
Power from that engine is funneled through a Ford C4 three-speed
automatic transmission and sent out to an eight-inch rear connected
to a set of 15-inch wheels shod in 225/60R-15 BF Goodrich Radial
T/A tires.
