These cars are built on custom shortened, reconditioned VW chassis with a reinforced steel sub frame. The car is actually titled as a 1966 Volkswagen utilizing the vin number of the VW pan used. The hand laid fiberglass body is top quality and workmanship is second to none. Building Porsche Replicas since 1995 the builders motto is "Quality over quantity" and I can attest to the high level of quality he is producing. We originally had this one built for a gentleman in TX who picked out an original special order 356 color called Auratium Green with a Buck interior. Just a few weeks before the car was ready he notified that he was ill and could not move forward with the purchase. This was no issue because it was ordered in absolutely one of the best color combinations, so we put it on the market and sold it quickly in January, 2024 to a gentleman in Pennsylvania. This gentleman enjoyed the heck out of the car putting just over 2300 miles on it and recently decided he wanted a new toy and only had room for one so asked us to sell this one for him. Someone is going to be extremely lucky to buy this gorgeous Speedster….Maybe you?!!!
The body is adorned with Porsche badging on the nose, rear and dash. Paint and body are essentially flawless and the gentleman from PA had the front end of the car covered in PPF as well as the lower rear fenders. I always recommend driving these cars top down but of course it also has a brand new dark brown canvas soft top. It also has a full Tonneau cover that zips down the middle and can cover the cockpit if you leave it unattended somewhere. Window inserts are also provided and a matching boot cover when the top is down for a clean, sophisticated look.
Complementing the Auratium Green exterior is an equally stunning Buck colored leather interior. The Speedster seats are very comfortable.. Matching dash pad and passenger side grab handle. Period correct VDO gauges with a digital odometer allow the driver to monitor the speed and performance of this air cooled Speedster. Beautiful woodgrain steering wheel with a vintage style turn signal lever adds to the authenticity. This 356 is also optioned with heated seats for both driver and passenger for those of you in cooler climates. This one has the Retrosound Bluetooth stereo. Shelf pad behind the front seats.. Simply gorgeous interior!!!
Turn the key and let the fun begin!!! As impressed as I was with the cosmetic improvements on these new builds I am equally impressed with the performance these new cars offer. The 2332 cc. motor built by Pat Downs Performance has just 2350 miles on it and is a fully balanced motor with top quality components from CB Performance and built by Pat Downs Performance. Rated at 125 hp with the dual Kadron carburetors and 8.2:1 compression ratio this motor pulls strong and crisp. I would be happy to provide more technical data on the engine build for those who need it. Transmission is a 3.44 ring and pinion for easy highway cruising. This combination provides excellent torque and acceleration in 1st-3rd and also allows easy highway cruising at 75 mph. Empi 5 lug 5x205mm 4 wheel disc brakes stop this Speedster precisely with ease. Other features include electronic ignition, stock dog house oil cooler and remote 72pass oil cooler with electric fan thermostatically controlled, Polished Vintage 190 Aluminum 5 lug wheels, and more. Great vintage tone from the dual tip exhaust. The undercarriage is also nicely detailed and floorpan protected with a bed liner material to ensure it lasts the test of time.
