Vehicle Description
When car enthusiasts become parents, the Hot Rod is usually the
first thing they have to let go of. But not if you have this
amazing 1951 Chevrolet Suburban Carryall, which has plenty of room
for the kids. If I were a kid again, I would love to be dropped off
at school in this awesome '51 Suburban.
This Suburban was built from the ground up, with the body stripped
down to bare metal and fixed properly. The owner has provided us
with a few pictures of the build process. The builder took his time
and made sure that all the door gaps and body lines were perfect,
which is very difficult to achieve with early 50's trucks. But he
didn't stop there. He made sure that it handled like a modern car
by installing an independent front suspension with rack and pinion
steering, and a 4-link with coilovers in the back. It is powered by
a very healthy 355 small-block Chevy, backed by a T5 5-speed
transmission. The exterior is painted in Matte Green and
highlighted with a beautiful tan leather interior. The finishing
touch is a set of steel wheels with huge white walls that give it a
certain charm that anyone would fall in love with.
