This is a genuine 427-425 horsepower R code Galaxie 500 XL. Frame
off restored to factory condition. Born in San Jose and lived in
Arizona and Nevada.
EXTERIOR: Laser straight, damage free body. Everything fits
perfectly well. Beautiful Viking blue. All the trim is straight and
shiny. Bumpers have been re-chromed. 15 inch Kelsey Hayes
wheels.
INTERIOR: Inside the car is immaculate. The XL comes with bucket
seats and console. Cushions have been replaced so they're nice and
firm and it makes the new upholstery fit nice. Carpet, headliner
and visors look like new. The whole dash area has been restored. It
has a rare heater delete and a clock delete. Correct 4-speed style
shifter. Very sharp looking interior.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is what makes it legendary: a factory 427
R code with two giant dual quads on top. Has factory cast iron
headers. Correct oval air cleaner and chrome valve covers. Has the
correct fuel canister. This motor was completely remained, we have
pictures. All the finishes are smooth and tidy. Latches are cadmium
plated. It is detailed up nicely. No frills, pure muscle. Has
manual steering and brakes, it doesn't even have a heater.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Big trunk compartment is completely restored.
Clean metal painted blue. Has a real nice plaid liner mat with the
cardboard side panels. The spare matches the wheels. Has painted
rim with reproduction tire. The jack has been restored.
UNDERSIDE: Dry metal. Clean original floors. The rubber weep holes
are still there behind the rear tires. Chassis is not pitted. The
front end is completely rebuilt and detailed. Bottom of the motor
and trans are spotless. Has correct T-10 4-speed. Correct Ford 9
inch with 4.11 gears in back. Rear end is correctly detailed.
Assembly line markings were duplicated throughout. Has dual exhaust
system with Flowmaster mufflers. Brake system was restored, e-brake
assembly is complete. This is a rare, significant muscle car. GTO
is recognized as the first muscle car with a 389 putting out 325
hp. This is a 427 with 2 huge Holley carbs making 425 hp! This one
is exceptional quality and very authentic. Priced aggressively for
one of this caliber.
