Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of Charlotte is proud to digitally present
this 1949 Ford F1.After World War II, Ford's wartime effort toward
producing B-24 bombers, jeeps, tank engines, and other military
hardware ended. When civilian passenger cars and trucks were put
back into production, Ford had the same truck and car design since
1941. After the 1947 Model Year was introduced, a completely new
design was planned, which could appeal to various applications,
extending further than just having a single purpose. The
development objective included making driving easier with a
comfortable and roomier cab. When introduced, Ford's new truck
would be the only truck featuring an all-new post-war design. Ford
departed from sharing a common platform with its passenger lineup
and developed a purpose-built truck frame specifically for the
F-Series.That was then, but this is now. This performance-focused
build propels the '49 F1 into the modern age with many upgrades
improving performance, comfort, and drivability! From the outside,
you will already be able to tell this is not your grandparents' F1!
This classic Ford F1 is anchored securely to a Custom Boxed Frame
Chassis by TCI, then lowered 2" via the Wilwood drop spindles on a
Mustang II Independent Front Suspension and RideTech Coil-over
Shocks. Open the shaved doors via the remote door-popper, and when
you take your seat in the new custom leather bucket seats, you will
know you are in for a treat. The classic 13" Grant Wood Banjo-style
steering wheel sits on an Ididit tilt steering column, helping
smoothy turn the Rack & Pinion power steering rack. An all-new dash
cluster that keeps a period-correct look. However, it has been
rewired using a Painless harness for reliability. Retrosound
Bluetooth Audio system and Vintage AC controls are just a short
reach away to keep the cab comfortable and full of your favorite
songs. Turn the key and let the MSD HEI Ignition light up the
FiTech EFI four-barrel carb and inject life into the ATK Chevy 383
Stroker motor. The ATK 383 motor was dyno tested at 435HP, and that
was before the additional performance goodies were applied; the
owner estimates those add an additional 50+ HP. When ready to hit
the streets, grab the Lokar shifter and put the new 700R4
transmission in gear. The sound of the rumble resonates through the
Sanderson Headers, custom 3" Magnaflow stainless exhaust, and
Magnaflow 14" mufflers. All that power turns the 3.73 gears in the
Ford 9" rear end. 17x8" Centerline wheels on the front and 17x9" on
the rear give you plenty of tire contact to put down the power this
truck has. Hydroboosted Wilwood disc brakes on all four wheels
bring this all to a stop safely so you can load up the
spar-varnished maple wood bed. This truck is for you if you want a
great modern build in a classic package. Take it to the local car
show or be the fastest delivery vehicle to the farmer's market.
