Up for auction the week, Canyon State Classics brings to market a
super clean 1999 Corvette C5 Fixed Roof Coupe. These were only
produced for 2 years. Here's what MotorTrend said about the
car:
Those surveyed felt that a $32,000 Corvette would cheapen the
entire line. So the final decision was to make the hardtop a
performance model with a manual transmission only and the Z51
suspension. The hardtop would be slightly cheaper with limited
options, weigh a little less and be faster, but not by much. This
was the pathway to the C5 Z06-but the cake wasn't yet fully
baked.
The engineering department had a surprise that the product planners
hadn't anticipated. Starting with the convertible body and chassis,
the hardtop was permanently bolted and bonded in place. The net
result was a 12 percent increase in chassis stiffness, making the
new hardtop the stiffest production Corvette ever! Then they added
the Z51 suspension, and took out 80 pounds of standard items. Car
magazines since the '50s have been complaining about the Corvette's
squeaks, rattles and lack of structural rigidity. No more! With 345
horsepower, this was a setup the magazine guys loved. Zero-60 and
quarter-mile times were 4.4 and 13.3 at 108 mph, respectively.
Buyers scooped up 4,031 Fixed Roof Coupes in 1999 (12 percent of
1999 sales) and 2,090 in 2000 (6.2 percent of 2000 sales).

excellent condition overall. The car is finished in Torch Red,
which is the sexiest color available. The paint on the car has been
garage kept and has a deep luster you could fall into. Just look at
the pictures...its like a mirror! The body is all arrow straight
and this car is Carfax and Autocheck certified to have never been
in an accident. All four wheels are perfect with no damage and
fresh performance tires. Car shows regular service and a lifelong
Arizona ownership. The car also has a high dollar application of
clear paint protection film on the complete front clip all the way
up to the door edges. The interior is in like new shape all around.
The black leather interior is all very nice and shows very little
ware for its age. Leather is still soft and supple with no tares

and tight...not worn out like most older C5 Vettes. Mechanically,
this Vette runs great. I can't describe how nice this car drives.
It is extremely smooth and luxurious, but with the stomp of your
foot you unleash all the power of the big V8. The highlight of this
car is what lurks under the hood. The specially designed LS1 V8
puts out a whopping 345 horsepower. The motor provides ample power
to move the car around and will smoke the tires if you are not
careful. All correct accessories are in place and the motor has
been completely detailed to original condition. The car has a newer
battery installed as well. The A/C blows ice cold and the car stays
cool even in the 118 degree Arizona heat. This car is low mileage
by all standards showing just over 20,000 miles. That's under 1,000
per year! It was always dealer serviced and runs great with no
