Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you today this 1972
Chevrolet Nova SS. This Nova was born a true SS, evidenced by the
"K" as the 5th digit of the VIN. However, unlike a stock 72 SS
which would have had a 350 V8, this Nova now has a stout 396 big
block under the hood! It comes to us today wearing a driver-quality
bright red paint job, a whole different look than its' original
Pewter Silver color. Up front is a cowl hood, bright bumper, and a
black grille with an "SS" badge at its center. Missing is the Chevy
bowtie emblem that should be present at the center of the hood
trim. Around the side on the fenders are bright "Nova" script
emblems and 396 call-outs to represent the engine upgrade. You may
notice from the photos that the alignment of the fenders and hood
seems a little off - we believe this to be the result of
aftermarket fenders being added at some point. Bright trim accents
add a pop to the red body with a chrome windshield surround, a
chrome driver's side mirror, and bright door handles. Highlights at
the rear of the car include another chrome bumper, bright rear
window trim, and a white "SS" badge at the center. This Nova rolls
down the road on US Mags wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force
Sport tires. Under the hood is where this Chevy really shines! A
clean, gloss black engine bay is home to a 396ci V-8 topped with a
chrome Edelbrock intake, 4-barrel Holley carburetor, finned
Edelbrock air cleaner, and finned valve covers. There's also power
steering, a chrome alternator, MSD ignition, and a BeCool aluminum
radiator with an electric fan. Exhaust exits through Headman
headers, through an X-pipe set-up, and out through Magnaflow
mufflers for a great sound. This big block is mated to a TH400
automatic transmission with a 9" Ford rear axle and 3:50 gears.
Stopping power comes from power front disc brakes with drilled
rotors and drums in the rear. Inside the car is a black interior
with front bucket seats, just as it originally came. The front
seats are in excellent condition, but the rear bench has a split on
the upper back that has been taped together. The door panels appear
to be OEM-correct and feature a faux-wood insert. Between the seats
is a BM shifter with finger-pulls. The dash and gauge cluster
appear original with a crack-free vinyl pad on top. Under the dash
are Autogage gauges for oil, volts, and temperature. The driver is
treated to a 3-spoke wood steering wheel with SS center caps.
Overhead is a black vinyl headliner and shoulder safety restraints.
In full disclosure, there are a few missing or inoperative items
inside - no radio, no heater, and the dash lights horn are inop..
Though there may still be some loose ends to button up, this is a
72 real-deal SS Nova with a nicely appointed big block, power
steering, power front disc brakes, and a look that'll turn heads as
it thunders by! We've priced this one at a level that will allow
its next owner to afford to finish the finer details to their own
liking. Give us a call before someone else snatches this one
up!
