Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is pleased to present this
hot red 1976 Triumph TR-6 for sale. For starters, the documentation
that we have on this car indicates that its current owner purchased
it from its original owner. It was originally purchased in 1976
from T.N.M. Lathrop, Inc. of Niantic, CT in October 1976 by a Texas
resident. He kept it until 1990 when he sold it to its current
owner's family. Its original owner put it through a comprehensive
restoration in 1988 (just prior to the 1990 sale to its current
owner's family), and subsequently won two 2nd place finishes in
1989 in "The Regionals" for each Concours and Autocross. According
to its current owner, this little gem is still powered by the same
2.5L Inline-6 cylinder and 4-speed manual transmission that it left
the manufacturing line with. And, speaking of "original", the
original purchase receipt, as well as the odometer statement that
was provided to its 2nd purchaser will accompany the vehicle when
its third owner takes over. There are a great many other receipts,
along with a thumb drive with several hours of video documentation
of its original restoration that will come with it, along with
original manuals and maintenance book (with its dealer service
stamps). In 2006, the current owner removed the engine so that a
secondary restoration could be completed, this time, changing the
car's color to red. If one didn't know it was originally a
different color, it would be difficult to find any evidence of that
change. With so few miles on the engine, it has only been resealed
(it didn't need to be rebuilt during the 2nd restoration). During
that secondary restoration, it received a new top, new leather
seats, carpet, door cards, a new 4 tip exhaust, and a new exotic
wood veneer for the dash (including a thick resin protective
coating for the wood). You can tell how well this car has been
cared for by looking at the undercarriage and engine bay photos on
our website - clearly, this car has been loved! She's still as
peppy as ever, and makes for a great roadster driving experience
with the top down. The supple black leather seats are in great
shape, as is the carpet, and the convertible top is almost new.
According to its owner, there are fewer than 6,000 miles on it
since the 1988 (first) restoration (in total), and of those 6K
miles, only about 1000 have been driven since the secondary (color
change) restoration in 2006. Additional features include AM/FM
Radio, Manual Convertible Top, Power Brakes, Radial Tires, and
Seatbelts. This sprightly British sports car is ready for its next
loving owner, so call or email our Houston Showroom today!
