For Sale: 1969 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 in Dallas, Texas

Vehicle Description

1969 Toyota FJ40 Conversion

This is a very nice Toyota which was purchased and owned by the same gentleman in California for 40 years. He then set it aside and left it in Lake Tahoe to just slowly die. The 2nd owner purchased it in 2010 and decided to begin it's restoration. The project took 5 years. The FJ had a solid body and all of it's original panels were good including the hardtop.

The new owner decided to make some changes that many people were doing at the time.  It was and still is a trend to repower these FJs. This one now has a Chevy Vortec Gen II 5.7L 350ci V8. which includes throttle body fuel injection, electronic ignition, and stainless Hedman headers.

Restoration began with the body and paint in Dublin, CA. There was minor rust repair and complete paint in "Boss 302" yellow with white roof. There was a spray on bed-liner style treatment in front floor compartment and rock guard nonslip surface in the remaining tub area prior to color going on. All new reproduction weather strip and window seals were installed from Spector Off Road.

The roll bar was integrated from the original bolt in rear to added 2" front tubes mounted through the floor to mount to custom built rock slides mounted/welded to frame for superior strength. All padded with hand grips.

There are so many more details the list just goes on. Here are a few more.

The suspension has a 3" lift with Rough Country springs and Rough Country shocks and 3 point greaseable shackles from Man-A-Free, all new parts.

There was an Atlas Overdrive unit installed for spacing the engine conversion forward as well as on road drivability, fuel savings and wear and tear. there is a 27% drop in overdrive. Useable in all gears both 2WDand 4WD.

There is power steering and the components came from Classic Cruisers of Colorado with a Rough Country steering stabilizer.

One of the safety features on the FJ is the Summit Racing 16 gallon fuel cell. It was relocated between the frame rails, forward of the rear bumper and behind the rear axle and shock mount tube. The fuel cell is completely enclosed inside of a 1/8" steel late ox.

There is an added audio system by Alpine. It's a CDE-HD1488BT tuner is AMF/FM/CD/AUX;JL360/4 amp and a driving pair of roll bar mounted speaker enclosures.

When the second owner finished the restoration, he enjoyed driving the Toyota for a few years until he sold it to the current owner here in Dallas. The 5228 mile that are on the odometer, are more than likely the actual miles since the completion. The current owner has not put on many miles at all.

This is a really nice FJ40, with just a few tiny paint chips and minor flaws. It runs great and I saw no leaks while photographing it. The restorer thought of everything.

One more thing, the FJ comes with a set of diamond plate half doors and a camouflage Bimini top.

I know I have forgotten something. There are pages of lists of items installed and redone. The fact that the owner took 5 years and sourced all parts from reputable suppliers is proof as to how well this FJ40 was done. It is still in excellent shape and runs great. This is your opportunity to just take the keys and hop into a classic Toyota FJ40 with an upgraded engine that has a great deal of power, and not have to take 5 years to build one.
