Here is your chance to own a beautiful, original, and extremely rare Mercury Parklane 4 door Hardtop. Featuring the one year only, Super Marauder engine & performance package. This is a genuine, factory produced "J code" model. It is estimated that less than 100 of these cars were equipped with this engine. The 430 cubic inch MEL series engine with triple 2 barrel induction was factory rated at 400 hp, which was the highest rated production V8 at that time.
This particular example is a true original survivor, featuring original paint, trim, and interior. Minor tune-up work has been done, including rebuilt carburetors. The engine fires off immediately and runs smoothly. Crisp throttle response and excellent power. The transmission shifts smoothly and crisply, with no hesitation or slipping. Steers straight and the brakes operate smoothly as well. Driveshaft has ben rebuilt with new U-joints and a new exhaust system and fuel tank have been fitted.
Originally sold in Chicago, this car was later purchased by an attorney living in Sheridan, WY. The car has spent the majority of its life in the dry western climate. The body is completely rust free and there is minimal corrosion on the underside. No frame issues and the body is solid.
This car would make an excellent driver as is. The interior is extremely clean, with only minor wear to the front carpet and driver's seat upholstery. Exterior trim pieces, including all emblems, chrome and bumpers are in excellent condition. Again, this is an All Original car, with no cosmetic restoration work performed. A true time capsule that turns heads wherever it goes.
