Vehicle Description
2000 Ford F150 Harley Davidson Edition
Low, loud, and menacing. That describes the unique machinery that's
rolled out of Harley-Davidson for decades. Likewise, it's also an
apt summary of the latest limited-edition truck from Ford. H-D and
Ford inked a five-year plan for cooperative products starting in
2000. Since then, Ford has introduced a truck each year. Both the
2000 and '01 models were derivatives built on the F-150
platform.
For consignment and beloved by our consigner, a Ford F150 Harley
Davidson edition with a low low actual miles, 8,831 to be exact,
and was number #14 of 8,000 produced, ( Jay Leno Has #1). Read on
and don't "hog" the road!
Exterior
Starting with the smooth hood which is all steel and bathed in
factory black paint and just a hint of orange with a pinstripe on
"spear" trim at the belt line. This clear coat finish is miles
deep, sinister and shines like a crazy black diamond. A horizontal
ribbed stainless bar grille and lower grille make this truck unique
from other standard F-150's. No rust and 2 doors with nicely minded
gaps have side steps in chrome tubing. The cab has an extended
version with a large tinted glass panel in the B pillars for the
rear passengers to look out of. This rear section has a small door
sharing the same pillar as the front doors for the latches. The bed
gleams and now shows beautifully with no scratches and just a HD
badged rubber floor/bed covering. The bed is topped with a piston
operated Undercover hard bed covering and is all in matching black.
Harley Davidson badges are put on in conjunction with the Ford F150
badging, and these are seen on the front quarters. Dual exhaust
tips peek out from underneath the passenger's rear of the truck.
Nice 20 inch wheels and tires give this truck a great stance and
much less truckish look. A truly beautiful looker and cooker!
Interior
A gaggle of buttons for power conveniences and sleek smooth molded
vinyl in charcoal gray abound in the door panel. More buttons for
the seats which are covered in black leather and are in high back
form with headrests and some tuck and roll for the inserts. Harley
Davidson embossing is within the tops of the chairs near the
headrests. In the center is a custom shiny emblem of HD fame, and
leading our eye to the back is more, (hot), cool for the rear 3
seat bench. Black carpeted floor mats looking great are covering
clean black carpeting. A black dash houses metal looking gauges and
fronting the dash is an original steering wheel with more...wait
for it...buttons! Noted is an OEM HD windscreen complete with logos
in the center to set it apart from a stock windscreen.
Drivetrain
Under the cowled hood is a nifty 5.4 liter SOHCV8 capable of 260hp.
The mill is fed by EFI, and on the back is a 4R70W 4-speed
automatic with a 3.55 geared Dana rear axle. Xlerator Mufflers are
on for the assist to the exhale, and end with dual outlets behind
the passenger's rear tire.
Undercarriage
Full on body and chassis corrosion protection is in all the nooks
and crannies of the inner body and frame cavities. Power disc
braking is on all 4 corners as are factory shocks. Up front is an
independent coil sprung suspension and in the back we note
traditional leaf springs. All solid and looking nearly as nice as
when it left the Oakville assembly plant.
Drive-Ability
With the side steps magically reaching out for me to step inside I
felt fairly flossy when I did so. Here I cranked 'er up and it ran
like a Swiss watch. Excellent neck snapping acceleration, great
handling with the larger tires and wheels, and all functions
meaning all these buttons were working swimmingly. An excellent
experience, and the sound from that exhaust is exhilarating!
A tribute to the classic motorcycle company Harley Davidson! Super
low miles, beautiful paint, and looking exactly as it did when it
rolled off the show room floor. All buttoned up and now I have a
soft (tail) spot for this beautiful F-150 which is like none other.
