While visiting the local automotive collectibles store the other day, I came upon a framed picture of a 1950’s drive-up diner depicting what seemed to be a joyful Friday night in mid-summer. I couldn’t help but stand there and take in every last detail of the scene, just as the artist had hoped. Then walking away, I pondered as to what that picture, and more so, what that moment in time has that is so captivating to all of us. Turning back for one more quick glance of the artwork, I determined it was the simplicity, the joy in the small things, and slower pace of life that was so enthralling to me. In a current world that moves in seconds, the 50’s moved in moments. Humanity has become so immersed in having everything at our fingertips that we have forgotten how it feels to live in that austerity, to live carefree in the moment. That mood is exactly what is embraced in this beautiful 1954 Ford Crestline Victoria. This 2-door hardtop will transcend you to a place of uncomplicatedness, while surrounding you in all the glamour that the 1950’s was built on. As Ford’s top tier trimline for 1954, this Crestline is bursting with style and attractiveness. Outside this automobile is swathed in a beautiful two-toned paint scheme, displaying a light blue metallic paint perfectly paired to the cream-colored hardtop, and inundated with chrome accents at every turn. Having been completely restored 15 years ago, this car still shows exceptionally well. This car is nearly fundamental to the day it rolled off the Ford line, still showcasing the original chrome wheels and wide white Firestone Deluxe Bias Ply Tires. The interior has recently been shown some affection by way of new black carpet throughout which emphasizes the impeccable exterior matching vinyl seats. Under the dash gauges for temperature and oil pressure have been added and the in-dash gas gauge is perfectly functioning. The interior is in need of a slight amount of continued love as the radio is currently not operational, but besides that small detail the interior is in superior condition. Under the bonnet this vehicle is powered by the top of the line and new for the 1954 model year, 239 CI overhead valve V8, and is supplemented with an aluminum radiator. The odometer for the well running powerplant shows just 37,940 actual miles and is ready for many more ahead. Furthermore, the car has been fitted this past month with a brand new 6-volt wiring harness covering the electrical system from bumper to bumper. While this car has received a few renovations over the years, essentially it has been untouched from its beginning form. Ford had a marketing tagline in 1954 that read, “worth still more in 54” and at D&D Classic Cars we believe that still rings true today. Though this Crestline has great value as a car in its rarest form, it is its ability to transport its occupants to the simpler 50’s lifestyle that bears the true value. This car offers the ability to escape the fast passed lifestyle we all live today and truly start living for the moments again. So, sit behind the wheel, let every worry flee your mind, and maybe head to one of the few remaining drive-up diners for a milkshake and a joyful mid-summer night.
