In the rich history of automotive design, there is one name that has always been synonymous with timeless class: Carrozzeria Touring. Founded in 1926 and continuing until 1965, Touring earned its unique reputation by creating cars with an unmistakable lightweight build. Their distinctive techniques, including the famous "Superleggera" tubular frame construction, quickly became legendary in the automotive world.
Touring's legacy began in 1926 when they took over Carrozzeria Falco, which was owned by Vittorio Ascari, the brother of famous Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Ascari. This is where their journey to shaping some of the most iconic cars began.
One of their masterpieces was the creation of the Flaminia series, which debuted at the 1957 Geneva Motor Show. This marked a new direction for Lancia, leaving the traditional design elements of the 1950s behind in favour of a sleeker look. As with the earlier Aurelia series, the Flaminia models had their sporty variants.
These sporty versions were not just bodies; they were works of art on wheels, shaped by the skilful hands of Italy's most renowned coachbuilders. Carrozzeria Pinin Farina created the elegant long chassis coupe, while Zagato and Touring shaped the short chassis sports coupe.
At the 1960 Geneva Motor Show, Carrozzeria Touring presented the Flaminia Cabriolet, derived from the elegant GT coupé. This special car in our collection is equipped with the beloved 2. 5. The distinctive "Superleggera" system, which combines a tubular steel frame with lightweight aluminium panels, is a testament to Touring's commitment to perfection.
