Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 2008 Land Rover LR3 G4
Challenge, one of just four support vehicles built for the 2008
Nevada Passage. Owned only by Land Rover enthusiasts, including the
present owner (who is selling only due to a lack of space due to
the dozen other Land Rovers in his collection). Very clean inside
and out - it shows as a vehicle with a fraction of the mileage.
Paint meters as original on all panels; original graphics with no
nicks or fading. Garage kept. Very clean interior with one small
crack in the dash being the only flaw to note. Exceptionally dry
and rust-free underside.
Land Rover sponsored the G4 challenge in 2003 and 2006 as a
follow-up to the iconic Camel Trophy, which ran annually from 1980
to 2000. Although trials were held for the G4 Challenge set for
2009 in Mongolia, Land Rover cancelled the main event in late 2008
due to the emerging global financial crisis (and it has not resumed
since). The US qualifiers were held in Nevada in June 2008 in an
event called the Nevada Passage, and Land Rover supplied 10
specially-equipped LR3s to participate in the event along with four
identical support vehicles.
All of the G4 vehicles were 2008 LR3 HSEs finished in Alaska White
over Ebony leather interior and optioned with the Heavy Duty
Package, Luxury Package and Satellite Radio plus an electric winch,
supplemental bumper-mounted lights, skid plates, a roof rack with
ladder, rear lamp guards and rubber floor mats (and of course a
one-of-a-kind graphics package exclusive to this event). Powered by
a 4.4 liter Jaguar AJ-V8 mated to a six-speed automatic
transmission with full-time four-wheel drive, this LR3 is highly
capable off road thanks to a dual-range transfer case and locking
center diff.
This Nevada Passage truck remains in mostly stock condition, aside
from the addition of a snorkel, roof rack lights, front lamp
guards, Compomotive 18-inch wheels and the Atlantic British coil
spring conversion kit (which contains a bypass module that enables
the terrain modes to function normally). Recent service includes
radiator, water pump, thermostat, brakes, electric parking brake,
front and rear diff fluid flush, transfer case flush, transmission
pan and fluid change, control arm bushings, and belts and
hoses.
Rare opportunity to own a piece of Land Rover and off-roading
history, with this truck being one of only 14 built. Original
books, two factory remote keys, and extensive service records
