Vehicle Description
Black exterior, Black interior. 400ci V8 engine, automatic
transmission. We here at Buyavette are excited to bring a rare part
of muscle car history into our Inventory! Back in 1967, Oldsmobile
Test Engineer Dick Hass special ordered this 1967 442 W30 and took
it to General Motors' Milford Proving Grounds as a high-performance
test car. Loaded with every factory speed part available, this
black on black W30 Factory drag racer made its mark in major NHRA
events, representing the Oldsmobile brand on and off the track.
This car is one of two sequential test-track cars built
specifically for NHRA racing in the summer of 1967. Typical of most
GM test cars, this "well-loved" example has low miles, now shows
32,000 original miles. The dedication of Mr. Hass to preserve this
muscle car's history is evident in the meticulous frame-off
restoration that was personally supervised by him. Everything is
period correct, from the numbers matching 350 HP 400ci V-8 to the
twin-snorkel forced air induction, red fender liners, and 12-bolt
anti-slip rear end. The Interior in the car is completely original.
With only 129 W30's produced, this car is a rare find. The W30
option added a performance package that upgraded the already potent
442. The factory performance package is easily identified by its
Forced-Air air cleaner with tubes running to tapered scoops in the
front grille. The battery was mounted in the trunk to accommodate
the air-tube routing. Red inner fenders and a hotter camshaft with
special valve springs gave the W30 a street advantage. This
Oldsmobile 442 W30 is a "holy grail" of the hot muscle car era.
It's provenance, limited production, and stunning make it a true
