locomotive and aviation design cues-the Ford Fairlane 500 is
certainly among the last great contributions to the legacy of Art
Deco inspired automotive styling produced in the United States.
We are very excited to offer this 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner
Retractable! Finished in code-correct A- Raven Black with two-tone
G- Black and White cloth/vinyl combination interior, this
exceptional and very rare Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner with
retractable hard-top represents the second production year for this
classic convertible! Well ahead of its time, these cars
demonstrate, perhaps, the pinnacle of 1950's sophistication of
design as well as mechanical function!
Built new from the Mahwah, New Jersey production plant, this
Skyliner is equipped with the H-code 352ci-4bbl Interceptor Special
V8 engine producing the highest output offering of 300 horsepower
mated to a Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission and 2.91:1 rear axle
ratio! Options and features include Swift-Sure power brakes,
Master-Guide power steering, working power retractable hardtop,
fender skirts, rear continental kit, padded dash, working
push-button AM radio, wide whitewall tires & full wheel covers,
fender-mounted spotlight rearview mirrors, and reverse lights! It
was frame-on restored approximately 10 years ago and remains one of
the most drivable examples available anywhere at any price. The
paint is truly exceptional with a smooth, deep gloss finish!
The original condition of the body, undercarriage, and chassis
visually support this car spent little to no time in inclement
weather conditions. It appears authentically original having been
dealer undercoated along the floors early in life. The frames
remain smooth and free of any pitting. All other body panels show
clear spot welds, factory seams, with wonderful body gaps & fitment
throughout. The former owner of the past 8 years has re-plated much
of the trim pieces to return them to a high luster, along with
installing new radial whitewall tires; new hubcaps; new front &
rear shocks; front wheel bearings; brake master cylinder, wheel
cylinders, & rubber brake hoses; battery and cables; fuel pump; and
had the transmission fully rebuilt in 2019 with new torque
convertor and driveshaft u-joints. Everything in the car is in
working order with the exception of an intermittent dash clock.
Kept by meticulous owners in the past, this Fairlane 500 Skyliner
has survived the test of time in stunning fashion! Do not delay,
