APPRAISAL INFORMATION
BODY
All exterior panels appear to be in excellent condition.
All exterior panels are properly aligned.
All exterior panels appear to be authentic and properly installed.
This is standard rear window truck.
PAINT
The truck has excellent original blue/white paint that appears to be a recent base/clear system application. Color is consistent throughout. The grills and hub caps are painted silver. The front bumper is painted black.
GLASS
All glass appear in very good condition. All lights and lenses are excellent.
WHEELS AND TIRES
White steel wheels have white Mercury hub caps and mount BF Goodrich wide whitewall radials all around. Tires are sized 670-15.
CHROME
• Brightwork on the Mercury appears as original with chrome badges, rear view mirrors and hood lettering.
INTERIOR
The complementing white/blue colored interior has a quality vinyl/fabric two-tone seat. Interior dash, door panels (with map pockets) and headliner appear in very good condition. Factory gauges are set in the stock white painted gauge panel. A factory steering column with wheel, column shift, and emergency brake on the left floor appear in very good condition. The carpet is in very good condition. The standard issue heater controls and round AM radio are in good order. The pickup has an oak floor that is clean and straight showing as new with painted strips.
MECHANICAL
The original 223 cu. in. in-line 6 cylinder engine is couple to a column shifted 3-speed with a single reverse gear. The rear end is an original 9 inch unit with leaf springs. The engine bay is highly detailed as the day it left the factory. All components appear to have had regular service. The original radiator, carburetor and air breather are in place. There is no evidence of metal fatigue or rust present in the radiator cradle or inner fenders.
EXHAUST
The 2 inch single aluminized steel exhaust is complete to the rear with a round style steel muffler and aluminized steel tailpipe that exits on the driver side at the rear of the bed. The system is properly installed.
FRAME AND CHASSIS
The full frame and floors are nicely painted semi-gloss black. Original suspension, brake lines and drum brakes are in excellent operating condition. All components appear properly installed and detailed.
REMARKS
The 1958 M100 Mercury Pickup shows as a #1 condition restoration with upgraded wide whitewall tires. This truck displays an original ride height and is a shoe in for showing at truck and car events.
Truck like this only come along occasionally and always bring top dollar, simply because they should only be maintained and with minimal use present a quantitative investment. The M100 is one of the most collectable vehicles in the vintage truck world. This one is especially attractive with its smooth styleside box and two-tone cab paint application. The original VIN tag is in excellent condition.
In our considered opinion, an assessed value of $55,000.00 for a vehicle of this nature must be considered as reasonable. Similar Mercury trucks appear very rarely and are highly valued.
Assuming proper maintenance and continued minimal use, there is every reason to believe that this vehicle will hold a strong market value.
