Vehicle Description
The Iconic 2.7 RS cleared the way for modern RS cars like the GT3RS
and the GT2RS and allowed Porsche to win 3 international
championships and 7 national championships by the end of 1973.
These cars were known for racing, and were achieving top speeds of
152 mph. This made the 2.7 RS so desirable for everyone to have,
who wouldn't want to go fast? There were 15 Engineers that were
designing the 2.7 RS, and they were making a lot of changes to the
car to perfect it. One example is the iconic "Ducktail" spoiler
that Porsche fitted onto the rear end of the 911. Porsche was
having problems with the car getting "too much lift" and was
causing the car to be very unpredictable at high speeds. The
Ducktail would increase downforce on the 960kg 911 but would not
increase any drag resistance.
This 1987 Porsche 2.7 RS Backdate is modeled after the 1973 Carrera
2.7 RS. The engine was originally a 3.2 liter displacement, but was
converted to a 3.4 liter flat six, paired with a 5-speed manual G50
transmission and produces over 280 horsepower. The engine has also
been overhauled as well as the gearbox, and the chassis has been
restored with no wear. The exterior of the car is equipped with
chrome and green 16-inch Fuchs Alloy wheels, halogen auxiliary
headlights, chrome trims, a Dansk Optik RS stainless steel rear
silencer, GRP front bumper, headlight system. The window and door
seals have been partially renewed and the exterior is overall in
great condition. The cabin consists of a fabric/leather combination
pepita Interior, with a roll cage, a sport leather steering wheel,
passenger seat comfort, front head restraints, electrically
adjustable sport seats, heating seating, sound system, and a black
headliner. The interior is overall in great condition, the switches
and fittings are all functional. This car was recently inspected in
August of 2023, and revealed no damage.
