This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle is a beautifully restored muscle car
with a big block and 4-speed! 1966 marked a major turning point for
Chevrolet's mid-size Chevelle lineup, with the GM marque completely
redesigning the look of the intermediately sized cars. At the nose,
the front fenders were now significantly raked forward, extending
above and over the newly redesigned grille. Down the sides, the
body sported new contour lines that considerably modernized the
side profile of the Chevelle. In the rear, updates included a
redesigned decklid and taillight assembly further advancing the
modern look of the '66 Chevelles. Not only did the bodies get a
makeover, but the GM marque also stepped up its performance options
as the muscle car era was in full effect and Chevrolet was looking
to make a splash. In 1966, for the first time ever, Chevy made
available its 396 Big Block in its mid-size Chevelle which followed
the recipie for a true muscle car consisting of a mid-size body
outfitted with a big block motor. The availability of the 396 was a
big performance upgrade compared to the small blocks seen in
previous years' performance packages, and it even came in a variety
of horsepower configuration options. Powering this particular '66
Chevelle is an upgraded 396 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a Pro Form
650 single 4 barrel carburetor sitting atop an Edelbrock aluminum
intake manifold. The NOM 396 V8 is backed by a 4 speed manual
transmission that is shifted using a center console-mounted Hurst
T-Handle shifter that makes this Chevy muscle car an absolute blast
to drive. Exhaust exits the Chevy Big Block via a set of headers
through a dual exhaust setup that generates a nice throaty sound
out the rear tailpipes. Power is sent to the rear axle through a
Positraction rear differential to help ensure that you'll keep the
rubber to pavement while cruising. The standard points and
condenser ignition system has been upgraded to a Hypertech
electronic ignition system for improved reliability. This '66
Chevelle 396 comes outfitted with power steering which greatly
improves the overall driving experience and makes it easy to
squeeze into a tight parking space at the local drive-in or car
show. Riding on a set of radial tires mounted on Rally Wheels
accented with a set of Derby-style hubcaps, this 1966 Chevrolet has
a great look and even better ride. The chrome and brightwork around
the exterior of this Chevelle is in wonderful condition and has a
great look. The exterior has been refinished in a beautiful Chateau
Slate silver paint that completes the gorgeous exterior look of the
car. The interior on this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle is absolutely
stunning! The front bucket seats and rear bench seat have been
correctly reupholstered in beautiful black vinyl. The black vinyl
door panels, black carpeting, center console, padded dash, and
steering wheel are all in fantastic condition and appear to be in
their stock configuration. The instrument cluster is outfitted with
a 120 MPH Speedometer and fuel gauge. A Sunpro 8,000 RPM tachometer
is mounted to the steering column and a trifecta of Equus gauges,
including gauges for oil pressure, engine temperature, and voltage,
are mounted neatly under the dash. A console-mounted clock, locking
glovebox and center console, and upgraded retro-style AM/FM
entertainment system complete the interior of this muscle car.
